I'm suprised it took Jol until half time to work out what to do against us. So far, we really struggle when teams press us high up the pitch - in addition they got tight on Lukaku.

I think our "first team" would also have had a hard time as we have not bedded down into the system yet.

We've faced a pressing game this season and kept clean sheets. It's a bit difficult to get them when you have a tiring cm like Gibson left on the pitch too long. Jol benefitted from our inaction.

Sylvain was AOL when Shay made a great tackle - unfortuneately the tackle sent the ball straight to Uncle Festertov who scored easily.

2nd goal came when Atkinsin guessed Parker had been fouled - his back was to the play - we switched off.. Or at least Shaymus did.

Moyes was crap in cups, I don't use him as a benchmark. Being better than Moyes by itself isn't good enough.

And, tbf to him, he also tended to play weak teams in the early rounds of the carling cup. This team was probably about the same strength as the one Moyes sent to Leeds.

And both managers got criticized for doing so. I know I was livid about the leeds game. I don't think the reaction this time is any worse than the reaction last year. In both cases it's really frustrating.

Well, at least, for this case and in my opinion, Martinez gave our second string/fitness regaining players a second chance, where as with Moist sometimes it seemed that he just gave a random player a run out. We never saw Junior ever again or before that, but we saw/used to see Osman play about 50 games a season, including in every one of those...

Anyway really irrelevant right now, except the fact that people are outraged.

And at least our youngsters got some good experience. Last night should make them stronger.

Is it a premier league rule? I remember Jeffers playing for us against Arsenal whilst on loan, and Wenger saying he did not believe in not letting them play, this was years ago, so maybe a rule is now in place, but I thought it was just a case of the parent club refusing to let them play?
