Why are we playing the second best team in the country one week before the league starts. It might be part of a bigger plan to start managing expectations early doors.
We have been badly hit by outside issues, losing both DCL and Kean is unfortunate, we knew Richarlison was going to be away, we have been messing about try to get a new right back for ages and Iwobi has been Iwobi since he got here.
I do agree with you in regard to blaming Benitez, if anyone thinks any of this is down to him they must have been asleep for the last number of years.
We have had a number of managers over the last while who we think were poor but they have gone on to better things, maybe the simple “sack the manager” solution isn’t what we need. I have been saying the whole club needs dismantling and put back together properly. Everything needs to be scrutinised from the Board, the managers and coaches, players tea ladies, if you are at the club you need a winning mentality. I joked earlier about our motto but it is time to start living up to it. Everyone in the club should be asked “what have you done to improve the quality of the team”, if they can’t answer or if their answer isn’t satisfactory then they need to go.
Over to you Mr. Kenwright, “What have you done over the last 12 months to make Everton better” The follow up question is “Why has it not worked”

The first goal is partlyu his fault. I thought he was all about the detail. Digne man marking Maguire while Keane and Godfrey zonal mark like statues? That's a coaching and management decision that. Don't blame him for Pickford being a nervous wreck again just in time for the season or the fact Bruno can score belters. I blame him for giving Delph any game time though...thats all on him!

Yep, the positive being that we only have to play Man U twice more this season.

The biggest worry for me is where the goals are coming from. Richarlison won't be back for a while and Iceland was our top assister. I'm still not 100% on Calvert-Lewin just having a purple patch.

Positive is we were that bad that any notion the board/Brands/RB might have had that we had a good enough squad to compete is out of the window.

Defensively very poor in the 1st half. We could argue that every goal could have been prevented and due to brain farts. 2nd half was improved with a good few chances. Gray could prove useful and Digne chucked in a good few quality crosses but without DCL they are wasted. Hope Mina is in defence once the season starts and fingers crossed a new decent RB. Centre Midfield is a soft touch.

Whether a friendly or not we've still looked dodgy at the back and nothing from the middle of the park.
