Pundits only work with hindsight. They are complete conmen.
It’s the easiest thing in the world to say the player should have done something different when the thing they did worked out badly.
For them, saying that De Gea should’ve cleaned out DCL is entirely consistent with saying Pickford shouldn’t have cleaned out VVD. Something went wrong - DCL scored, VVD was injured - and therefore the easy thing to say is that the keeper should’ve done what they didn’t do.
They are all grifters.

If there was a conspiracy, why on earth would it target us?
Chelsea, City and to a lesser extent Spurs are the teams that have actually upset the apple cart and starting consistently doing better than RS, Man U and Arsenal
The pundits would be far more invested in putting those teams down as they actually do things
