Still think we need a ball playing midfielder, if we can have both that would be great but can not see it myself if we are going to spend 6mil on this kid.

I think Gibson, Osman and Fellaini are all better passers then people make out. I know they're not exactly barcelona quality but they're more than good enough to provide ammo for our wide players.

He's never really spent money on youth to get them in at such a young age. Not anywhere near the number being touted for Niang at least.

Garbutt 600k
Vellios 250k
Coleman 60k
Gueye 1m
Green 2m but based on first team appearances I believe.

This has all been in the past 2 years, seems to be a shift in his transfer policy. Spending more on youth and hoping they come good.

Who's knows as well, Junior may come good, and he has looked a decent distributor of the ball in his limited game time.

Da Silva cost a few hundred thousand too though that one back fired a bit add to that this irish lid mcalughin, mustafi from germany and that azerbaijani kid and we have made a decent effort of late to try and pick out young exciting players before they break through.

Gueye is the deal this most resembles. We threw out a million for a young prospect in the hope he'd come good. This one is a bit more money but he looks a bit more exciting too.

Think we got Da Silva on a free, but Joao Silva was a couple hundred thousand (think it was recouped on his transfer this year though)

I for one really like this shift. I think its great. Building the club from the youth up, while also adding quality to the first team.

Hoping a few of the academy//reserve kids come through to the first team in the coming years. Makes those couple hundred thousand completely worth it.

Moyes said he won't let Barkley go on loan unless he gets cover, so maby he is trying to do something around the CM.

Junior did not play much with the first team in preseason, would like to see him on the bench at least, only time will tell.

Yeah wrong Silva my bad.

The truth is as a strategy it sounds good but it's low risk, low reward. See Silva, Jutkiewicz, Gosling, Peterlin, Mustafi and Vidarsson as players we snatched up early for low fees but then didn't make any money off when we got rid.

As for the others, Coleman and Vellios might well make it but Gueye probably won't. We haven't seen anything of Abdullayev, McLaughlin, Garbutt or Green yet. And of the kids about to break through, Junior and Duffy are the only ones we stole off another club.

Don't get me wrong I would love for us to buy Nianag but there's a reason why he'll cost so much and that's because there's not many players his age with the talent that you'll know they'll succed. Mostly it's a gamble. Even Arsenal snatch up hundreds of these lids so that one or two a year will make it.
 

He's a potential wonderkid on FM2012, probably where Moyes scouted him. His transfer value is 2.2m on there but his club won't even accept 7m for him. In other news, I bought Mirallas for 7m and he's ace upfront with Jelavic, scored 2 in 3 while Jelavic has 4 in 3.... so, good news overall.
