UPDATED M'Baye Niang is unlikely to become Everton's third acquisition of the summer as the club appear to have ended their pursuit of the French forward.

Niang, a target for the Blues a few years ago under David Moyes's tenure when he was an even more raw teenager, was reported by the Liverpool Echo to have been at Finch Farm yesterday along with Davy Klaassen, suggesting that a deal to keep him in the Premier League was close.

Italian site Calcio Mercato have since claimd that the 22-year-old had asked for time to consider a £15m move to Goodison Park after rejecting the chance to make his loan move to Watford permanent.

Now, a French media source working for DiMarzio says that Niang won't be joining Everton as "his profile was not convincing" to the Blues.

I usually trust the echo as being close to the club. Seems they just picked up on some rumours coming out of Italy/Twitter and went with it though. Seems amateur. Appalled by the wiggling of his tongue on Instagram!
