McLaren: I was right to drop Becks

yeh drop the player that actually DOES something for the team, and he did something for England during the world cup too, scored one set up two.

Lampard did.......

He was right to drop Beckham, as it gave him the kick up the arse he needed, pardon my french. He has got it together for both his country and Madrid, and he looks alot fitter.

..........................Robinson..............................

....Richards......Terry.......Ferdinand........Bridge.....

....Beckham......Gerrard.....Carrick........J.Cole.....

....................Owen......Crouch......................

That for me is the strongest line-up possible for England. I hate Rooney with a passion and plainly think hes overrated. Owen is always going to play because hes the top scorer in competitive games. It boils down to Crouch or Ashton as the partner really. AJ and Defoe are too similar to Owen. Ashton needs to prove himself a little bit more at club level though but he really does have potential, he's stronger and better in the air than Crouch but he's not there just yet. At least with Crouch there is some aerial presence, something a little different, because as of now, most of Englands best strikers are small, fast and good finishers and not really strong on the ball.

Look, Keith, everybody knows your views on *ahem* certain players, but please, please, if you want to have any sort of presence on here, then DO NOT give credit to said certain players because of their club team.

Although I am happy to see there is no sign of Carragher in that line-up.

Righty-ho boss, hearin you loud and clear on FM. heres my revised line-up

.............................Robinson...........................

...Hibbert..........Lescott.......Terry.........Bridge.....

....Beckham.......Lampard......Carrick......J.Cole.....

.......................A.Johnson....Ashton..................

Better ?? :P

Nah i know what you mean. Gerrard is a dead-cert to be in there, surely you can appreciate that. And i said why i would have put Crouch in there. Simply because he's one of the very few strikers England has at the moment that offers something a little different. For me its a case of Owen/AJ/ or Defoe for one role and Crouch/Rooney or Ashton for the other. I can't bring myself to put Rooney in there as i straight up don't like him, and he's not really a good player. Ashton has just come back from a bad injury and has yet to prove himself properly with a full season in the Prem, but i have no doubt he will be in there soon, he is a striker i greatly admire. Crouch is just a temp don't worry.

I think Lescott should be in the England set-up. Gerrard should be in there because, as much as it pains me, he does his job, and does it well. Crouch, however doesn't. Sure he has scored a few goals here and there, but except for his (fluke) hat-trick, they have all been pretty mediocre goals. He might be 6'7", but Arteta has better aerial presence than him. Crouch doesn't have anything. No speed, no weight/strength, no real ball abilities, an average shot, nothing in the air.

I think your being a little unfair to the lad. I do think he is overrated but he can't have got where he is now without having something of note. I think he's a decent link-up player, Ashton is a better player than him but it will take him a while to establish himself yet.

As for Lescott, i don't think he's a better defender than Terry,Ferdinand,King,Carragher or Dawson, and all of those have more experience in Europe and the Premiership than him. Lescott will get there, but not just yet, which i think is a blessing really, means hes less likely to get injured.

an england midfield should be 5 dylan, and consist of.....

.........hargreaves
HRH.....gerrard......j.cole
...........rooney

with owen up front.

Whoever said becks needed a kick up the arse is well wrong, he was playing very well for both club and country before, during and after the world cup....

what a load of crap.

Hang on are we talking about the same Beckham who was sat in the stands for the majority of Madrid games prior to his recall ? You aren't trying to tell me that this recall hasn't made Beckham a better player ? Surely not.

Yeh and when he was sat in the stands they did crap, suddenly comes back into the team and they now have a chance of winning the league.

He fell out with the management thats all, had nothing to do with form or anything else, I watched him play in alot of games for madrid and I tell you one thing he outshone both zidane and figo on many occasions if not every game.

He was excellent before he got dropped for England, and comes back and is still just as consistent as he ever was.
