Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning. How fab is language?! Crumper is a new one on me but I love it. My baby girl, now 25, fitted the description perfectly at 11lbs 6oz! Bonny lass is a term of endearment in these parts. As Val said it very much depends on context. Incidentally up here any female partner is often referred to as 'our lass' which I also love.
I don't know if it still happens but in Liverpool there was always a subtle difference between ' me fella' and "my fella' The former was boyfriend, the latter was husband. As I said before, language is beautiful.
I love language but have yu noticed how words go in and out of fashion.

When I moved up to Liverpool in the early 80's I heards ace / sound / munchies (and women referred to as) queen everywhere I went . Now I hardly ever hear them at all - mainly because I'm going deaf but that's another topic.

Yes and that's why it is so good. My aunties and uncles all used to say 'Alright queen?' The word queer as well. My Nan would go to the GP because she felt a bit queer.
In the North East the word for extremely drunk is mortal so 'eee I was mortal' has nothing to do with one's allotted life span. I was also very confused when my colleagues described something really good as hellish.

Yes you’d be advised to keep it to babies. And I don’t know if it’s a Wigan thing but if you described someone (or something) as bonny here they would be pleased. I remember when I was little my dad got a Cortina estate car and my uncle describing it as a bonny brake - I’d no idea what he was on about.
Yeah. Fully understand bonny but usually associate it with our friends north of the border. Probably used in a similar fashion to "ansom" down here.

But scrumper? Sorry Val. Incidentally, when I typed scrumper into my phone predictive text changed it to strumpet. Hmmmm😀

A superfluous 'S' there Fred lol Unless you're nicking apples.
