Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Rugby was never on our school curriculum but I wish it had been. Would love to have tried it but no clubs anywhere near me.
I enjoyed rugby at school as a tiny , nippy winger who could out swerve the big boys. This was so long ago that in those days the wingers used to do the throws into the lineout , it was really tricky , particularly when you pissed off the big forwards for not throwing it in properly 😂

Not stupid , your lad Phil
I know people always look favourably on their own children, but for his tender age he does appear to have a good understanding of football.

When we watch a match or leave Goodison, he normally makes a good assessment of the game and his pick for MOTM is typically a decent one.

He's above me in our Fantasy Football league too! By the way, he chose Branthwaite or Onana for MOTM today, which I thought were solid choices.

I went for Mykolenko.

true but I couldn't give a monkeys about the rugby. just a game for toffs

I disagree about it being a game for Toffs - I'm from the depths of L8, but getting a chance to play as a youngster game be a real love for the game.

I still love watching it now (I try and get to Collegiate whenever I can), and I wish I had the chance to play it. In school, it was thoroughly enjoyable to play.

It was also an excuse for a scrap, which was perfect for my younger self.

Can't disagree with either selection. ( I went for Mykolenco too).

Maybe tell him that Dyche is actually Uncle Sean to Keane?

Your lad sounds very grounded and that’s a credit to you.

We only played Gaelic Football and Hurling at school. We were instructed to destroy your marker which is why I think Rugby was a relative easy transgression.

During the week I noticed in the papers NFL coaches scouting Gaelic players as kickers.

Makes sense.

Didn't watch the match but I've been reading all the match reports. It would appear that the usual rs bias was in operation. Makes me sick how they appear to be untouchable. Surely one day karma will come for them. The cricket was a huge disappointment. I didn't think we would capitulate quite so easily.
I might watch the rugby tonight. Some extremely large South Africans who look like they spend their days wrestling wildebeest might cheer me up! You never know, I might even get to know some of the rules!
Bloody hell Anj you really are on the rebound from Doms cat comments 😀

My memory of Cornish rugby from many many years ago is of one of the Cornish clubs going to a Twickenham final and bringing with them “ The Song of the Western Men” …. “ and will Trelawny die “ etc , it was very impressive, and there may well have been 20, 000 of them 🙂
It is THE sport down here BL. When I first moved down here I'd go into town on a Saturday afternoon trying to find a pub with the footie on. The locals just laughed 😀 Nor round here matey.

Did REM at Glasto 1999 earlier.

Easily the best band for me.
I like them AT but not a huge fan tbh. Got Monster in my CD collection and had a couple more taped on cassette back in the day. Big fan of Fleetwood Mac though. Rumours probably my top 10 albums.

Just set record for Jools Holland and it came with a warning for bad language. Guess we know what version they're playing😀
