Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good afternoon everybody. Its a lovely clear day here. I'm so glad it's Wednesday and I didn't have to go to work. All washing done. I've decided that the rest of February is going to be super healthy to work off the Guinness and the very generous portions served in Irish food establishments! So, off to the gym later.
Charlotte had her 28 week scan yesterday and they gave her a 3D picture. It's unreal. Technology can be amazing. You can clearly his face. He's a little chunk - according to the measurements, he already weighs 4lbs!
Chris had another round of treatment on Monday - all went well.
Enjoy the rest of your day folks x
Oh that’s lovely- it’s amazing to see their little faces and so reassuring. You must all be so excited. I’m going swimming with our granddaughter tomorrow- well she won’t be swimming just having fun and I can’t wait 💕. So glad Chris’s treatment is going well too.

Respect is the key to it all. It’s like that point in your life when you realise your parents were just like you one day. You really can’t buy experience and wisdom.
That’s so true- one of the nicest messages I got from my son over Christmas was one of these quotes you see on social media and it said something like it’s only when you become an adult that you realise the magic of Christmas was created by a mum who loved you very much . Once I’d stopped sobbing I thought it’s true- like my mum did for me. I think we all become versions of our parents if we are lucky

I feel like I spend 50% of the conversations I have with my mum, these days, telling her she was right and I was wrong over various squabbles when I was a kid!! It truly does give you an appreciation for the love and support of those of us fortunate enough to have had parents who gave it freely. It should also remind you that you don’t need a 100% success rate in all matters to be proud of the job you’re doing.

I’m sorry to hear of the trouble you’re having with your mum @jazzy . I imagine there’s very little you can do or say to talk her down in the moment, so I suppose you just have to be proud of the loving environment you’ve created for her, that she’s so reticent to leave it.

Lovely news all round in your last update @anjelikaferrett . We got a 3D scan at about 32 weeks with our eldest and it was amazing; knocks spots off the usual ultrasound images. Probably a bit of a waste of money in the end, though, because the impatient little sausage came to greet us 2 weeks later anyway!

Not much going on over here. Dry Jan successfully navigated, and been nailing the nutrition side of things for the most part. It helps me, selfishly, that my missus is determined to eat much better now because it means I have a partner in crime to meal prep for and hold me accountable (and vice versa). Started running again last week, and going to ease back into MMA if all goes well. I’ve decided that I’m not going to go at the gym like the clappers even if I do manage to stay injury-free; it’ll just be used to supplement the other stuff. My aim when I started years ago was to drop some timber and get fit, and somewhere along the line I got distracted by the whole ego trip of lifting heavy stuff. A couple of horrendous injuries later I may have finally learned my lesson!!

WFH today, dropped the dog off for a trim, had some breakfast and watched an X-Files so now it’s prep time for a slow cooker dinner, and lunch for the next few days, then I’ll probably have to get on with a bit of the actual W part of WFH!

Have a splendiferous day, all!

Afternoon chums.

After a busy couple of days in the garden I've had a relaxing afternoon listening to some music. A bit of early Paul Simon now , LP recorded in 1965 and still sounds fantastic.

Off to deepest Formby ce soir for some ping pong . Big tournament on Sunday but I'm organizing it now , decided that I can't play at that level any more.

Oh and me and Fred have arranged another date but it's a bit later in the year so more about that later.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Thanks Brett , mucho appreciated, and by the way splendiferous is such a criminally underused word , chapeau ami.

Hello everybody. How are you are all OK. Nice to see @jazzy and @Barnfred 55 have organised another meeting. I hope your table tennis is fun tonight.
The temperatures have plummeted here since yesterday. I had to de-ice the car this morning. It was not fun being back to work today. I think I'm in holiday mode. I didn't get to the gym last night but I've upped the ante on aqua aerobics tonight. It's a high impact class and only 30 minutes instead of the usual 45. This makes me think it could be hard work. I'll let you know. I did weight myself this morning, to my surprise and amazement and in spite of the Guinness, lager, Pinot and generous portions I actually lost weight in Dublin - clearly the amount of walking we did counteracted all of the above.
Charlotte didn't have to pay for the 3D scan. She said they just asked her if she wanted one so she said yes.
No plans for the weekend as yet other than overtime on Saturday. I do need to visit Liverpool soon though.
Have a lovely night x

I'd hope it is highly intensity rather than high impact ( unless it's boxercise or Brett's MMA - heaven forbid 😂)
EDIT - Should have done some research before engaging my brain. Just read up on high impact training......good luck!!

Without giving too much away we're a group of guys in our mid 60s and we'll probably be the youngest there.😀

Evening guys, it’s been a long day. At six o’clock this morning Kay was lying on the floor, she sleeps downstairs m next to the bed fast asleep. Managed to get her up changed and back in bed and she slept. It frightened the life out of me. She has a small bruise on her forehead and arm but otherwise ok. At the doctor’s in the afternoon she was checked out and was fine. The Doctor then talked about me and assistance. She has referred me to some NHS services to gain support other than social care for Kay because I can handle all that. I told her we needed a blue badge for Kay and she said they would do all that for me, which was a weight removed, but also that they would advise me on things that I just don’t know about. I told her I was concerned about reinfecting kay with the mucus cough which put her in hospital so she checked me out and said I was completely clear. I’ve now obviously ordered a bed guard for Kay so she can’t fall out again and it should arrive Saturday. It’s been a very busy day……
