Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi Messy, glad the blood tests were OK. All this talk of soup inspired me to make a pan of what we call Nanny's Soup. My Nan used to make it when I was a kid, my Mum made it and now I do, My daughter loves it and said "Mum, I need to know how to make that." basically split peas, carrots, onion, a potato and a ham shank (no sniggering at the back please!) Chuck them all in a big pan and simmer...for hours. So worth it.

I'm off to Scotland on Sunday for a few days so probably won't catch the match. Looking forward to going - it's the first time I've been away since COVID arrived and I have to admit to feeling a bit nervous - which is really dumb! I'll just have to make sure I don't lick the faces of any strangers. ? ?

Yeah its a big brave new world. There doesn't seem to be any set rules and everyone is doing it slightly different. However you are away so do what you need to do to feel comfortable in yourself. If that means wearing a mask when not many others are so be it. I'm a mask hater and wear them to a minimum because they make me claustrophobic, but there is some people who have massively improved confidence with them on. Whatever you do make sure you enjoy yourself. Hopefully you'll hear about an Everton win to perk you up.

Everton doing well will definitely help with my bravado. I also feel better after an Everton win and I get so low when they lose. I've had to not come on here some nights as I'm sad but don't like some players being scape goated and I start defending them and arguing with folk cos I'm in a downer. I just want them to win so much it overwhelms me.

Coleman is perfectly good back up RB for next 18 months but over to you Brands and Benitez find us the player we've spent 3 years looking for.
Well then my hope is even greater that Everton continues performing well. May the Blues invigorate your bravado this weekend!

Now, when it comes to the RB that we have been looking for 3 years. Well, your bravado may need to lower its expectations ;)

Good night or good morning, what is the answer? xx

You typed this message at half 1 UK time so I would say good morning it is here. But it was half 8 your end so good evening for you.

If the Blues keep winning it will keep invigorated and strong. Up the Toffees.

That's the beauty of being in different parts of the world :)

I always want our Blues to win but now even more ?

You say Up the Toffees, I say Arriba los Caramelos lol

I'm just about to set off back home now the thing that was slightly higj has started to go down. They have given me all the normal advice so I will be fine at home a while longer.

Still haven't got it but will get someone to take me and it will be oxtail.

Hello mate. Glad the outcome from the tests was positive. So what's the latest on the soup situation? On tenterhooks here.

If you think your last supermarket experience was bad, you should try going with my missus. I'm there with my list, intending to buy just what's on the list and nothing else. She's going, "Oooh these look nice" filling our trolley with loads of crap we don't need and greatly inflating the bill.

She also wanders off without telling me. Quite a few times, I've said something to her, expecting her to be stood next to me, but I then turn to see a stranger with a slightly startled look on their face. Awkward.

Hope you have a good day today mate, and finally get your oxtail soup.

Morning!

No soup yet its likely to be tomorrow. A couple of slices of toast and Lucozade.

I'm going for a coffee with two ladies I used to work with and one I still do. I've warned them I am going to look somewhat different to when they last seen me so hopefully they will br prepared. I'm really thin on 80% of my body but I have big belly. I've also gone pale and that will be made more obvious as one of my medications made me looked flush so one extreme to the other.

I'm looking forward to it and it gives me an aim to my day.

Still tired but no pain so medications doing their jobs.

Hope everyone who reads this is well.

That's nice. Enjoy your coffee with your friends.

You mentioned earlier that you've lost your bravado, but this thread shows you've still got it in spades. As long as your body's still able, do as many of the things you like as you can, in the time you have left. What's that saying? Face the fear and do it anyway.

Your missus sounds a lot like me! Gets even worse if I'm hungry while shopping. Buy all sorts of sh*te and wonder why the bill is ridiculous.

Morning Karl,

Always nice to have something to look forward to. Hard to beat a good coffee shop whether with your mates or just people watching. A couple of cracking ones in Liverpool that are great for an early morning straight off the plane for the game. Rococo is one I recommend ?

Enjoy the time with your mates, I’m sure they will be glad to see you.

Yeah I still have some but I know Costa is 5 minutes from home and where I'd be going if something went wrong. People on here and the ones where I live are helping give me my confidence back. We were trying to sort a big get together of the lads but one of the lads it's his birthday weekend so he can't come. He offered to look at rearranging but me and another lad said no as I might get poorly and not make it and he deserves his birthday treat. It meant the world to me that he offered.

The opposite with us, I get to the checkout only to find loads of crisps, sweets, chocolate and other assorted goodies chosen by the husband who has met someone he used to work with and is having a catch-up on all the things that have happened since he retired 7 years ago!

My worry is that I'll see sadness in them that I'm so poorly. However if I do I will tell them not to be sad but to be glad that they've given me something to look forward to and I know o we will have a laugh. Anyone who takes time out of their day to check on me or will meet me knowing I'm likely to be grumpy is worth their weight in gold

I'm more of a tea drinker myself but we'll see how I feel when I get there.
