Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

…..many thanks for all the good wishes following my recent detached retina op.

Went back the hospital today. No vision as yet in my left eye but it’s all looking ok and things should start improving in another 4 weeks or so, although it will never be as good as it was. I’m perfectly fine with that, just hoping it stays intact & I don’t need another operation.

Anyway, I don’t have to lie on my right side for 50 out of every 60mins which is a blessing but I’m on ‘light duties’ for a while which mRaBs lMrs Eggs is carrying the burden, especially when we start minding the granddaughters again.

I might even have a rum tonight, it’s been a while.

Glad you're on the mend eggs. Enjoy your rum.

Morning all. Hope you are all better than this weather.

I'm up just taking it really easy. Long day ahead with my meet up but if I'm sensible should manage it. With my new wheelchair one of my friends tonight is looking forward to taking me for a spin. There is a very scary video of her on Facebook when she tried a seaway for the first time. I can only pray her driving skills have improved!

Morning Messy. Lovely and sunny at the moment in the South East today.

Pleased to hear you're seeing more friends this evening. Rest up today, so you have energy for later. Listen to a bit of Oasis, avoid the Benitez thread and maybe treat yourself to an oxtail soup.

Just make sure your friend, the dodgy segway driver, keeps your wheelchair away from steps. :)

Exactly we were going down a slight slope last night and I was nervous when we got near the curb. However we were fine. I'll probably try and sleep until half 3 then start getting ready.

You southerners wouldn't know the meaning of cold weather.

Hi Messy. Pleased you had a good catch up with more to come today. Soundsike it will be fun. It's a gorgeous day here in Liverpool. My Dad is still in hospital and I have come to the conclusion that I'm adopted. How I can be related to somebody who has labels for everything including his glasses cases which have dynotape on them saying things like "spare varifocals" is beyond me. Today's tasks include wrestling with the padlocked bolted gate to get the bins out. Key to said padlock helpfully labelled "side gate". He then rang me and said would I do something for him. Very serious voice. Of course Dad, what? Put the Euromillions on. Numbers written on piece of paper in white envelope in his bedside drawer. I have to pay with one of the stash of £5 notes in the back of his prayer book! It's a whole new world!

I'm a northerner mate. Originally from the Wirral, but been living daaarn saaarf since 1985. I'm always calling my wife and teenage kids lightweights whenever they feel the cold and I don't. Getting my own back for them taking the mickey out of my accent.

There is nothing worse than someone else's quirks. My dad didn't like favourites or anything he just took things as they were. Whereas me I like an exact order for everything!

Is he getting better now he is in hospital. Hopefully you get him home soon so normality can resume!

Sorry for that pal. In the South the sun always shines. Its back to being grey here.

Good morning @messymascot. I hope the chair has a seat belt and brakes if shes that bad get yourself a bell to warn others shes coming haha. My lad thinks hes a viking in his on holidays grabbing sweets and lollys from other kids lol. He'd get you in trouble.

Still is dark in Asheville so I’m not sure if the sun will be shining here but hopefully it is your way.

It seems your friend wanting to take you out for spin is as bad as me with her driving so my advise is to make sure to hold on to the chair really hard and enjoy the ride ;)

Unfortunately it seems Benitez is not only obsessed with Keane but with Rondon too. I know we have no many options on the bench but I wish he would give a chance to some of the young players instead. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem Rondon can be a threat at a match, and even less for full 90 minutes of play. We really need some new signings in January, let’s hope it happens ??

No need to apologise mate. If I mention I live in the south, it's natural to assume I'm a southerner. It's all relative anyway. I remember it feeling weird being referred to as a southerner when I visited Scotland (southern sassenach to be precise), but I was to them.

Good morning @Barnfred 55 I hope your head is not feeling too bad today, make sure to drink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated.

I wasn’t here on Friday when you said goodbye to Cal but for what I read it was a great send off and the way she wanted it so you done well with your honors. Like some have mentioned here, things may get tougher the coming days/weeks but you can count on many of us for support if you needed. Xx
