This. Thought he played well most of last season but has been error ridden so far this season. Mina and Godfrey our best back two on current and past form, Holgate seems flakey too

Could be that RB's style of play is exposing Keane's weaknesses.

I definitely remember Keane putting in some MOTM performaces last season - when he stood in the box and headed away cross after cross in the last ten minutes. But that was when Carlo had us playing conservatively.

To my surprise, RB has us playing more expansively. Especially, he's telling Doucoure to get forward more, he's talked about that a lot. Which is fantastic in one respect because Doucoure has put a lot of juice in the attack. But it's leaving space in front of the back four, and Keane has to handle the ball with the guys in front of him further away. It's so easy for an attacker to get him to cough up the ball, and he's too slow to cover for a mistake.

If we were parking the bus still, maybe Keane would still be having a 'good' season.

I think dropping back deeper , to a similar area where he played with Burnley suited his game and clearly helped his confidence a little as I suspect did the lack of crowd .

TBF with him (and Pickford for that matter) it is much more about what is going on in their head. Individually they could both be great - and like you say he was fantastic at some points last season - but he seems to be one of those people who just expects something to go wrong and usually manufactures that himself.

Agree with both of them, but other than his goof at that friendly at Old Trafford, give credit JP has been solid so far. I don't fault him for the goals, Raphinia's was a screamer, and the other two were giftwrapped by Keane. Think JP did well to make himself big on Armstrong's but that was a great finish.

Why don't we just buy a CB who can play the way Rafael wants and doesn't get scared when there are supporters in the stadium?

Yeah think tactically Keane needs the ball in front of him, he turns slowly so anything behind him becomes more awkward to deal with.

Will Rafael see what other managers couldn't? That the boy is absolute toe jam, I believe he will, the hour glass has been tipped and the sand is emptying on this frauds Everton career.

Snag is, who would buy him when no doubt weve extended his contract on higher wages :(

If we tell him hes free to leave then if no one buys him he will have zero confidence and be even more of a liability.

He's better than Holgate and Branthwaite

He really isnt.

Can’t agree with that, Holgate is far more suited to the system Benitez is playing, Keane is an absolute liability if he plays far enough up the field to leave some space behind him. In Ancelotti’s deep block system Keane was very good, but, in the higher line Benitez is using he is regularly exposed.

The real answer, for now, is Mina and Godfrey, but in the medium to long term, Branthwaite and Godfrey look a good partnership. Branthwaite is an absolute monster who is left footed and has a surprisingly good composure with the ball, whilst Godfrey is just Godfrey, enough said.
