Can't see who would be buying him?, I suppose a northern championship side would suit him but non of them paying 70 grand a week wages and sure he doesn't love football enough to take a major drop
Lot of clubs are thin at the position to varying degrees, but Keane doesn't really fit any of them. Leicester is skint, Chelsea made their moves (and never for Keane) and the rest of the clubs won't take on Keane's level of wages.

Arguably, the biggest lesson of the Moshiri era is that you almost never want to be the big payday contract for a player in terms of wages. You can buy them before then, because it's possible to sell them on to someone that will pay higher wages. You can take them on afterwards, because you can often pick up short-term quality on a low or zero transfer fee. If you're going to be the big contract, though, you have to be sure.

If you're buying Ronaldo from United, yeah, sure, do that. If you're buying in our range, you could get Richarlison but you could also get Gomes. The whiffs are just too costly, in terms of dead wages and fees, and the hits don't make up for it.

it was wonderful not having to worry about Michael Keane lashing one past Pickford into the Top Corner whilst wearing his steelies.

I’d rather watch Andre Gomes attempt to run about than have to see Keggars near our line up.

Sell him? Christ no one’s paying anything for that. Guys won the lottery being a professional football player.

Its like you missed 2 CBs going off today.
It's like you missed Michael Keane's Everton career to date.

The injuries mean we switch to a back four (Patterson, Holgate, Tarkowski and Mykolenko all looked good today) - they are no justification for asking Keane to play in a 3-CB formation when he's failed whenever he's been asked to do so previously.

Seems very unlikely.

As does Keane being moved on with only 3 CBs at the club.
Another way to look at it is this: we played a back five today and Keane didn't start. Then Godfrey got hurt, but Keane wasn't used. Then Mina got hurt , but Keane still didn't come on.

It would seem Lampard doesn't rate Keane in a back three / back five. So doesn't it seem unlikely we'll keep Keane if the manager wants to use that system?

Great minds...

Keane didnt come on when Mina went off cos we had a game to chase, so he put on a more attacking player.

Look, I would sell Keane and 90% of the squad tomorrow, im not "wedded" to Keane or the majority of our very average to poor players.

I just think with us currently only having 3 CBs, 1 of which has just suffered a serious injury, another totally unreliable, I think given those factors that Keane wont be moved on.

You hate Keane and you really hate the back 5.

Im not a massive fan of either, but the above factors lead me to the conclusion that its very unlikely that Keane will be moved on, I also doubt Lampard will switch to a back 4 simply cos he doesnt want to play Keane.

Both are those opinions could possibly be incorrect.

Lampard obviously doesn't rate him, bring on Holgate and reserve left back on ahead of him when two central defenders were injured.
I think I agree with Frank on this one. We just need to cut our losses ASAP by getting rid of this donkey.
I wouldnt say he doesnt rate him, he played him quite a lot last season.
