..when you lack speed and mobility you don’t get tight to a CF with those attributes. He was left totally out of the game and Jagielka was isolated in the middle.

Remember last season when he got tight to Lukaku and was absolutely embarrassed?

Ultimately mate, neither him nor Jagielka are anywhere good enough for where we want to be

..I remember it very well, Matey, and was going to mention it. Jagielka is a bit different because he simply shouldn’t be getting a game these days, it’s a reflection of the transfer policy that he is.

I’d honestly send him on some sort of basic army training course. Learn something about leadership, controlled aggression, confidence and communication.

..when Mane turned him in the 2nd half it was very poor defending and should’ve cost us. If you’re a forward about to face him I don’t think you’d be losing too much sleep.
You see I dont get this kind of witch hunt mentality Eggs. You’ve seemingly remembered ONE moment throughout the whole 90 minutes that could be considered bad defending, and let’s be honest here, he’s not the first centre half to be turned my Mane this season is he?

But what about the countless headed clearances he made and excellent one on one tackles particularly in the second half? But no let’s just mention the one bad moment where he got turned by one of the quickest forwards in the league?

It’s like some of you are desperately wanting some of our players to fail and will search for anything negative that happens over the course of the game. Genuinely baffles me.

Despite it being against “championship level” forwards blah blah, he was generally very good yesterday. He also was given man of the match on the official website I believe? Where thousands voted. So I’m clearly not in the minority for thinking he had a good game.

I thought he had a good game, sure he's not the finished article, but if he was, he wouldn't be playing for us would he, as Lescott and Stones prove.
It's a shame him and Holgate can't get some game time together with Coleman as captain.

Good see he’s getting some public backing for what WAS, a good performance yesterday. Hopefully will boost his confidence no end.

..it’s a fair point, Matey. I was actually considering him for MoM up to that point so it’s not a witch hunt. I thought his performance was decent on Saturday but that mistake epitomised his failings. He is immobile and sluggish on the turn. He should’ve learned by now to give those types half a yard and not get tight. Lukaku did him in the game against us last season.

If he plays we have to defend deep for the very reason we saw when Mane turned him. I don’t dislike the lad, I just wonder why Walsh identified that type of defender when we desperately need athleticism back there.

I think he's got the ability. Just seems a little overwhelmed.

He will come good next season.
I dont think its overwhelm .... i genuinely believe it is a palsy of confidence the has grown right through the first team squad since the last weeks of RM the bullying of RK and the embarrassment of BFS
We beed a manager with true motivational leadership ability the banish the malaise and make the players proud to wear the badge
