and apparently about 20 other witnesses at the scene.

still, one doesn't know if this a load of locals stitching anyone english up or whether its shields' family doing whatever to get him back.

I take the confession of the other lad with a huge pinch of salt.

Somebody is lying.

Although Shields has the most reason to lie about it.

he still could be innocent though - I'd have to see the evidence.

The confession is laughable as a case of defence. "It was me..." Shields returns to UK, "Oh sorry... It wasn't me", and then even if it went to trial, no way would Graham Sankey have been convicted because of the likes of the victim saying it was Shields.

Didn't he take a lie detector test?

they are not admissible in most courts for very very good reasons.

(amongst the reasons they are non-admissible is they are extremely unreliable - accuracy is only some 70 - 90% depending on the skill of the tester, and they are prone to abuse - a person can be trained to pass any lie detector)

Of course he didnt do it lads, here we have a 19-20 yr old lad on holiday with his mates and he swears he was in bed at 10pm that night instead of being on the lash with his mates!:lol: I believe him, dont you?
How dare a Bulgarian accuse an innocent kopite, (There all innocent you know, salt of the earth)

I don't believe anyone was actually intending to have it kill me and I don't think this was the case with the brick/slab/rock here either...

You may have heard of a young man (ahem) called Sean Mercer, he had a gun and shot at a pub, he didn't hit his target but he hit a little boy called Rhys Jones. Now I cant be sure how happy Sean was with his aim, but it was his choice to pull the trigger - that's the responsibility point.

Sent down for murder.

If a person is going to chance someone elses life with their actions and the worst or almost worst does happen, then im sorry to inform you, but they have to be held responsible.

Anyway, the point about the home office now being able to grant a pardon.

Sounds like an open invitation to go to Bulgaria or anywhere else and try and kill someone or actually achieve that goal, then bitch and whine about it until you get let off.

Hopefully international relations with Bulgaria will prevail and the cowards pig wont be released, but how much faith does anyone have in politicians to do the right thing.

ps. gutted someone didn't get him in prison. Now im going to have to hear about his lies and how he is the victim on trisha, jeremy kyle, loose women, good morning, numerous books and having him a celebrity at anfield and making it onto the news and MotD.

Criminals cannot pursue financial gain on the back of their crimes - allegedly.

Surely he will only recieve a pardon if British authorities have reason to find him innocent and that the Bulgarian conviction was unsafe?

They have just been told they can give him a pardon if they so wish. Are they re-examing his case?

surely they will review all the trial notes before deciding I would not like anyone even a kopite detained if innocent. but on the hand I would not like a guilty man to walk.the only thing that gets me is the victim gets no sympathy OK Shields deserves justice but so does the guy hit with the flag stone and only when the right person be it Shields or sharkey is punished will he have it.
