This would solve mysteries as to where posters have evaporated to, and be a salient warning to others as to what sort of things cross the line.

Most bans never even get as far as actually posting mate. Spammers probably represent 80% of the Banned List of users. We pick them up using some witchcraft on the server, or somewhere.

We have a thread in Mod Central to let each other know who/why someone has been banned. By a mile, the most common entry is;

Username

Temp

Accy.

Very occasionally there is a longer entry when someone has been well off beam. But its rare, which is why when it does happen, (like recently), it provokes an interest.

I don't think that would work. If you have that you should also have something like an independent objection committee (not mods, above them), since you'll probably have people complaining about a diverse treatment for similar offences etc. The banning/warning procedure would also become more rigid.

In short: more work for mods.
