In my day, we didn't have a choice. It was National Service. I did mine on active service in Malaya, didn't expect any special treatment when I was demobbed (and didn't get any). I am not aware of expectations of special treatment in modern times. I know it is big in the US of A but never came across it over here?

Brisbane was my first port of call January 1974 on my first trip as an engineer officer. Had the misfortune to experience a mighty anti cyclone that meant us being laid up for about three weeks before the weather relented allowing us to leave.

I've posted many time in the past of my dislike/disbelief at some of the personalised number plates on cars, but I had to do a double take at this one yesterday.
The big black 4x4 Mercedes driven by a blonde girl with dark glasses with the plates showing NAT 5Y. Personally I would have thought the DVLA would not have sanctioned that one.

Went for my first game of snooker of the new season today. 9 miles to the club, usually takes me about 15 minutes. Took me an hour today. Traffic gridlocked everywhere. Tried every short-cut I knew but so did everyone else. All caused by temporary traffic lights. Wasn't even rush hour, left home at 4.15 pm.
I must be missing something, what is wrong with that plate?
