I thought working at one of the biggest tech companies in the world would be great and they'd have fantastic people in to support you when you have difficulties at the workplace. I've been passed around from team to team since they removed the headcount for the role I initially started at, and since my initial role was very specific and they no longer offer these kind of positions, it's proving impossible for me to find a permanent new job within the company. It's got to the point where my manager is actively encouraging me to negotiate a payoff deal with them. Thing is, I have shares which are set to vest over the next 18 months worth a substantial amount (about 20k post tax), so I am in no hurry to leave. If I leave before then, I forfeit my shares. If I could negotiate a settlement that takes this into account and, say, six months of salary, then we might be able to strike a deal (but it's rather unlikely they'd offer something like that). Thankfully where I live, the laws are definitely on the side of the employee, so there is no way they can either fire me, or force me to accept a payoff, but it's getting quite uncomfortable being in this situation. HR here is a disgrace though, and that's something I didn't expect. Hence, minor things that make you fume! Plus Everton are making the weekends awful too, so all in all it's proving to be a bit of a stressful time atm.
