How does it make it longer, he uses it whilst you're resting and then you swap over?

Waiting in your car at the petrol station for someone to pay and drive off so you can use the pump.
They get in their car (after seeing you waiting there) and take ages faffing about before driving off.

To build on this, people who stand at the cashier taking forever to put their wallet away while continuing to chat. Don't mind the entire line of people that are waiting on you to get your ass out of the way.
