minor things that make you fume

they don't.

they have been waiting for me to up and leave the job and have been there so long they have become part of the department which isn't a good thing.

Put it one way, they refused to train me when i started, but expected me to do that job.
Why the frig are you still there then?! Sounds like it's bordering on workplace bullying, you must be proper miserable. Get another job, pronto.

haha i am trying. Sadly working in the sector i work, it is very difficult to get a job elsewhere. I have had interviews last less than 5 mintures, interviews where they wrote their own questions (and failed every one at interview) etc. even a job in our place (which are given out to who they want) i was told my perfectly written answers in interview were 'over answering the question'. I'm actually looking to get out of the place next month, and move into coding, going to pop down to the department and have a chat to get an interview from them next month.

Also i have told my team leader and supervisor about all this ( more than once, and following what they want me to do) and basically get told 'what do you want us to do about it?' and i shoudl deal with it myself, despite communication being an issue already?!

Everyone has transferable skills. You are only pigeon holing yourself if you think you're tied to one industry. You mention coding, that's such a universal skill it can take you anywhere. Your company, not just your team, sounds utterly toxic and I wouldn't waste a second getting out the door if I were you.

as i say mate i have tried. Generally anyone who does leave here enjoys their new place so much more than working here, couldn't begin to explain why it is such a horrible department at times.

But, jobs a job at the end of the day, need to pay the bills somehow lol My plan long term is if i can get coding then it would be roughly 3 years after now, i'd move closer to home, perhaps even as a team leader and move up that way :) In the mean time im doing a course for a higher management NVQ so anything i can do short of resigning i am doing.

Am I hearing you right, you're contemplating 3 more years there to learn coding?

From my experience, you either specialise, or you go into management. They're almost mutually exclusive. The higher you go, the further you are from the coal face and become less socialist.

coding is elsewhere mate, away from where i am.

Its actually an odd situation all round, i see a manager in the cash office who would love me to work for them, a senior manager would ideally like me to go there as well but no jobs come up to even get there lol

shockingly, i am actually a damn good individiaul and an asset to the right manager who gives me a job :P its just getting out of a place that has seen people with degrees decide to stay rather that pursue their choice of work. That is how trapping it is to work here if you let it sadly

I don't like having to work for money any more. I need to move into consultancy. In education, a consultant is someone who comes, steals your watch and sells you the time.

When some old bag in the asda dives on a lovely big joint (About 3kg) of marked-down beef milliseconds before you, and then rubs it in with a grin that makes you want to boot the ... rarr up the 'arris.

Would've been 'beef everything' for tea for the next week - for £6-odd, as well. Hope she gets mad cow disease off of it, the arl witch. Properly gutted, me.
