minor things that make you fume

Yeah I won't lie it's kind of pricey to get it installed but it's worth it. The whole energy efficiency of your house improves drastically, so in the long run you make a profit. Basically it's a whole bunch of modules connected to a controller. You can make it do whatever you want it do do.

My heating is regulated from hour to hour; from day to day. You can also access your entire system on your tablet, on your personal computer. You can create multiple atmospheres like dinner: activate light x y ... ... . That hour your blinds open and such. You can even let it run your bath if you're interested in that; I don't have that btw.

Most new houses nowadays have some form of it; because of the energy aspect.

I have a Qbus system. I like how easy it is to program it.
If there's one that turns off lights in rooms my wife isn't in, then count me in.

Simply don't understand the hype about this. I can turn my heat up and down using the thermostat; I can turn my lights on and off with the switch; I can run my bath by turning the tap with my hand. Why spend hundreds of pounds for gadgets to connect them all to a phone or iPad, which uses electricity to be charged up? If your energy efficiency improves drastically after installing this stuff, doesn't that just suggest you were previously over-heating your house and leaving lights and gadgets switched on all the time - simple things to notice and rectify?

I just cut my electricity bill by £100 over the year by switching supplier. Much simpler way of making a saving, and doesn't involve spending £150+ up front beforehand.

Agreed - boys and their toys.

I understand your point of view mate but a human can't match the efficiency of such devices. You even get expansive monthly graphs which rank the biggest electricity users in your house with suggestions to improve. If you connect it to a cloud service it brings other stuff to the table like if it detects high trafic on your route to work it will wake you up 20 minutes earlier. It also checks the weather forcasts to adjust your heathing schedules for increased efficiency. Also the state will reimburse huge parts of the buying cost; green energy certificates, subsidies ...

I admit to finding it fun to play with.

Hey if it works for you, go for it.

Went in to renew my drivers licence the other day, instead of just pressing a button on the screen to say what i am doing there to get my ticket to join the queue you now have to line up for a customer service person to do it. So every person starts asking questions to that person instead of waiting till their number is called to go to the counter meaning you have to queue up twice.

Another ingenious waste of government money while they slash money from other essential things.

Got in from the match a few hours ago, I never sleep well when I've had a drink.

Woke up with a hangover and massive headache, so I went downstairs to make myself a cup of tea.

I was being quiet, trying not to wake everyone up. Next thing, the dog sees a moth and all hell breaks loose. Chairs everywhere and him barking his head off.

On the Rainhill Stoops junction yesterday and there's a Range Rover driving what can best be described as erratically, in the wrong lane, swerving wildly etc. Go past him on the expressway and the driver is reading a book, there's a passenger in the front and a child in the back.

In LIDL late last night, this daft mare placed a big carton of milk on the freezer cabinets, from which it promptly slid off and bust all over the floor.

She went 'ahh, oh dear' a few times, then just hovered around it for a while until someone saw and came over to clean it up. She muttered something about how it happened, then sloped off.

Oh, did I mention she was on her phone the entire time, even during the 'apology' to the staff member?

Made my blood boil.

Estate agents uploading online sales listings WITHOUT floorplans. They'll put up thirty photos of crap decor and endless closeups of fruit bowls on a glass table, but no useful information about the layout of the house. I've lost count of how many houses Mrs. Tree and I have gone to view where had we seen a floorpan in advance we would have known not to bother.

Actually, just estate agents in general. Useless parasites.

Missus has just told me the leccy bill amount. Every month for the last month it has gone up by about 33% of the last one. I've just gone through all of the bills, its a farce. What does my head in is there's no way to fight it, just have to pay up for whatever they extort you for.

Doesn't help that the missus is a nurse and is constantly using the leccy at all mad times.

With a leccy bill like that, I'd be having a look to see if your missus has a sneaky crop growing in the loft mate x
