I'm a big fan of the younger generations (no yew tree). They’re more socially aware than previous generations, more open minded to issues like LGBT rights, racism and are more aware of their impact on the environment/climate change.

Yes there’s some tits who class themselves as ‘influencers’ and the whole selfie culture paints millennials as self obsessed but I think on average they’re nicer people than previous generations.

I’m hoping that as time goes on more and more get in to positions of power and start making positive changes and making the world a fairer place. The New Zealand prime minister is a good example of this as she showed incredible compassion in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack.

As I get older I worry more and more about the human race's determination to kill the planet. This wasn't helped by watching Judy Dench in Borneo, reinforcing my worry about the destruction of the rain forests in order to supply the world with things we don't necessarily need. So when my daughter told me that one of my granddaughters already sponsors an orang-utan and is planning to go to Borneo to help once her exams are over, I felt both happy and proud.
