Minor things that make you happy

True story as relayed to me by my friend via social media.

Her sister was out doing her daily walk when she passed an overweight not young gentleman in running gear looking very hot and sweaty and out of breath sitting on a bench. At a safe distance she stopped and asked him was he OK. He replied "Eeeh pet. I'm really struggling with this hour's exercise we've all got to do every day"

Bless him

During these bleak times, i've been watching loads of football matches (of both the round and oval ball variety) on youtube. For the past week i decided to watch, all of Carltons grand final wins from 1968 right through to 1995.At the moment im on the 1981 vfl grand final. That was the day Tommy Haffeys magpies lost a third grand final in a row.The Collingwood team of that era was very sporting. No matter how well they would play on the day. They would always leave Carlton off home with the cup in the end.lol @Sinski

Thanks mate. Was out of bounds though. :pint2:

....yep, we’ve done a few of those, Phil. Not forgetting it also supports local businesses through this difficult time.
Definitely. Even before the lock down, we've always bought from the local butchers, green grocers and fish mongers at least once a week.

While it's not as cheap as the supermarkets, it's not as expensive as many people would think (well, for some items) and the quality is always much better.

I'm actually going to pop to our local cheese shop today because I'm passing that way with work and cheese is one of my weaknesses / vices.

We’ve just placed an order with a local bakery ... bread, pies, cakes and fruit tarts. All helps local business keep ticking over
There's a bakery in the Albert Dock called the Rough Hand Bakery and I've been going there for years since it started as a tiny little business on Penny Lane.

They make the most delicious olive bread, fresh pitta (they're thick and the size of a small plate) and spinach and feta pastries. Sadly, they're not open right now.

You simply can't beat the quality and freshness of meat, fish, bread and groceries from a specialist shop!
