Youngest lad home on 3 weeks leave from the Royal Navy.

Unfortunately my nephew ,a marine, is away.
We had his Christmas about 3 weeks ago.
Can't even send him cards or presents for the big day,you'll know why.

They'll be purchasing the €500 voucher for less than its value (typically 15% less) and may be able to write some of it off too, hence why it's rarely cash these days.

My place gave everyone £500 extra this month as a gesture towards cost of living. It got taxed at the same rate as the rest of the monthly salary, so myself and my colleagues all paid PAYE, NI and pension contributions on it.

Realistically I would have preferred £500 in Tesco or Sainsbury's vouchers over the £340-ish I received in cash.
