Misc. Transfer Rumour Thread

Haven't said that at all. Just not much point getting excited about being ''unbeaten'' as so far, it's a touch difficult to see any actual progress.

Do you think Fellaini out, McCarthy in would kickstart this?

Nobody on here is getting excited as far as I can tell

Its going to take a lot of time for a manger to get a team to play the way he wants when the previous manager has been there over a decade, Most of the players here have worked under Moyes for over 4-5 years, Martinez can not just walk in and change what they have been taught in under 6 months

Also I agree, I don't see McCarthy suddenly getting us firing on all cyliders but that does not make him a bad signing

Lets just hope he has some attacking signings on the cards

We have lost the manager we have had for 11 years, they are all his players. I am suprised that you are suprised we are not ripping up the league.

What did you really expect ?

Time is needed, and patience.

McCarthy is a good footballer, and I think will be just as good, in the position and system Fellaini is currently working in. Maybe not instantly.

But I dont feel like killing myself just yet. Chill.

Ripping up the league? No, but I'd expected us to have won at least once with our opening fixtures.

Or, not gone to extra time at home against Stevenage.

I'd rather like us not to sign four players who played for Wigan last season.

Surely everyone can see that we have issues in the attacking third - we are linked today with an expensive DM and an expensive defender. We can have patience, but we can also have concerns.

I think a few of us feared a couple of 4-3 defeats and a 5-5 draw or two, so the fact that we've only had 3 scored against us in four games might begin to lay the myth that RM can't set up a decent defencive formation

Fellaini is better than Mcarthy But in RM tactics and formation I believe Mcarthy could well do a better job. What you lose tho is the option to throw a player as effective as Fellaini further up when chasing a game. However with the likes of Chelsea and co not having to resort to those tactics maybe not a bad thing

Back on topic!!!

Bruno Martins Indi / Stones / Coleman -- 3 young defenders for the future
Barkley and McCarthy in the centre midfield area

That's half a team of players who could be part of our first eleven for a long long time.

Makes sense to build the team from the back as well....

Watching the 'Martinez approach' I don't think he's a fan of the 'hit long to the big man' approach even in the last seconds of a game.

I think he's going all out for Plan A -- in which case McCarthy could well be a good buy.

Definitely a fair comment. Would like to see how effective we are versus Chelsea before being really confident as WBA are very poor offensively right now. Goal conceded versus Stevenage was poor.

Definitely agree with this but we must sort out our problem up top at the same time. My concern lies with us going for McCarthy and not rectifying we need too.

to be honest i'm at the point where I wouldn't mind if we sell Fellaini and a 28 year old Baines for £45m and spent it on young players who could be great in the future. I said years ago we should have gone for Zaha when he was first at palace - those sort of players. It's the only way we'll be able to compete in the medium to long term without investment.

Will Hughes would be someone i'd definitely look at, Martins Indi another. Victor Moses would've been ideal and if we get McCarthy for around £10m then that would be ok as well. Young players we can mould and can develop

Building from the back is fine. Young potential is great!

But with no goalscorer... we will struggle immensely! Been our biggest problem and excuse for years.
