Missing a bit of height...

Both Stones, Jags, Barkley, McCarthy and Lukaku are all close to or over 6 foot with Rom and Ross both being over 6,2.

We're really only small on the wings and at fullback which most teams are especially the good ones. Even Chelsea have Fabregas, Oscar, Willian and Hazard who aren't the tallest.

I do however think Robles looks more dominant at crosses and corners than Howard which helps.

Chelsea have Matic, Costa, Terry, Cahill -- very dominant players in the air. CBs are a given, but in terms of CM/ST Costa/Matic are 10x stronger in the air than our players.

Midgets everywhere.
I'm only 5' 9" myself. Tim Cahill wasn't that much bigger and he scored tons with his bonce.

But thinking about it, Jags is six foot as is Gareth Barry, and John Stones is six foot two. Lukaku is six foot three.

Maybe Duncan could play a few more games, he's six foot five twice.

I remember a kopite saying to me a few years back "you lot go on about how good Cahill is, but all he's ever done is score loads of goals with his head"

Coleman, Mirallas and McCarthy are not tall. Jags, Barry and Gibson (like he even plays) are 6' on the dot, so not exactly giants, and only the former can jump properly. And Howard's a keeper.

You need an aerial presence. Height isn't necessarily everything, Rom is 6'3 but useless in the air, Cahill was only 5'10 but immense at leaping over any CB. Since Fellaini left I'd say only maybe Stones and Jags could claim to be an aerial presence. That is not enough, in my opinion, and it hurts us during set pieces (both our own and the opposition's).

Recruiting an aerial specialist for late game situations where a dead ball or set piece might equalize or provide a winner wouldn't be be a bad shout.

Not so much height, but for a long time we have lacked a player who dominates in the air.Not getting in the should we or shouldn't we bid on Dann,be he really does "attack" crosses.

We do need more of an aerial presence for set plays - especially in the opp. box. But as it is, it's nowhere near as desperate the days of: "Kendall Dodd & His Diddy Men"
