No joke, I was demonstrating a piece of software at work today with a survey where the three questions were “what is your name,” “what is your quest,” and “what is your favorite color.”

Lancelot got the questions right, of course, but Galahad botched it.

Even though i think you know exactly what it means (I don't have it in me to run this through the sarcasm filter before posting......been a long day, work, school run, kids hockey, dinner, shopping etc etc).

Apparently it goes back to ship pilotage/steerage, the "wheelhouse" literally the small cabin housing the wheel. Or at least that's what the first google hit suggested.

I always assumed it had something to do with watermills, but I hardly know my etymology from my entomology.

Colloquially it's used these days most often (or so I hear it used) to describe front and center pitches in baseball that are easy to mash as being "in your/his wheelhouse".
