The bigger problem is there are definitely other Pepes out there, the guy was valued at 20m last season, that smart teams could try to find. That's why I like this Kean signing. He isn't exactly a secret, but at 19 with this much potential he could be the next big money striker. Either we benefit from it by him scoring for us or we sell him for an obscene amount. If he flops he still has value. We can win big but most likely only lose small. Pepe is the other way.

You say this like the lad is bang average. He is far from bang average and his value isn't going to drop anytime soon in a market where we are seeing championship players going for 20+.

His value is probably the highest it will be right now. That isn't really an issue, Arsenal are buying him to take them back into the CL not to sell, but it's hard to see how they make money on this one short of selling him in a year or two to a team like Barca or Real Madrid.

Exactly.... right now. We are in a time where every single summer the market gets a little bit more silly. To say Arsenal got rinsed on a deal before he's even kicked a ball for the club makes no sense to me, especially when our own club are being rinsed every single week on the utter guff we have at the club on massive wages.
