Klaassen led his Ajax side to a European cup final though.
European cup and Europa are totally different levels mate. He ripped Real apart if memory serves. Anyway I know I am judging him off a small sample size and probably over stating it a bit but I think he's a good player.

I have no idea why he is still in Holland but he was excellent in the CL last season. He was a large reason why they got to the semis. You wouldn't take him? Although I doubt he would come to us like.
At risk of derailing this thread entirely: I think it is down to his style of play. He shoots a lot. He plays really risky passes in the final third a lot. He's always looking for the killer moment and not always doing the simple thing. I don't think teams are entirely comfortable with it because it is just really different. But for me it's ok because the production has always been there and he also works his socks off out of possession and to get on the ball. He doesn't disappear like Ozil who is a similar passer but has nowhere near the scoring ability.

I'm not saying he's bad, just that any attacking player in that league isn't worth the risk for any serious amount of money. It has a near Real Madrid standard team playing against Scottish Premiership standard opposition week on week, meaning they leather everyone and go into European games with artificial confidence.

Point taken Holland isn't as good a transition as the German and French leagues. Still surprised nobody has bought him especially when the fee isn't that high. Wonder if someone knows something about his attitude? But yes always working his arse off when I've seen him

Indeed. Case in point - Bas Dost. Look at his scoring records and you'd think he's one of the greatest strikers of all time.

Look at it deeper and he did the business in Holland, but when he got his move to Germany he was pretty average, and has kicked on again now he has dropped to a sub-standard league in Portugal. He'd very probably have done absolutely nothing in England.

Anyway, in regards to Kean, it still seems a weird transfer to me. I can't see it happening - I think it's a punt of a query from Brands and I expect him to stay at Juve, but we'll see. Either way, at 19, expecting such a transfer to be our definitive first team solution is... odd. Unless Brands/Silva see DCL as progressing well enough to rotate the two prospects.

Bit harsh to suggest Dost was average in the Bundesliga. Scored a goal every 2.36 games. You’re no mug doing that.

But yeah what we need is a hold up man with good instincts in the box. The amount of times Bernard etc played a ball across the danger zone and DCL wasn’t there was criminal last year. Suspect you can’t teach that.

Holland is undoubtedly the trickiest league for identifying attacking talent. The best example of that continues to be Jozy Altidore. Ziyech has 5 straight years of good performances, good European performances and performances in a not as good Twente team on his record though so I think he might be one who actually can do it.

If Kean really wants to leave because he wants consistent games than we have a chance. I don't know if that is actually what is happening though.

Can't believe I spent so much time on here last night talking actual football. Feeewmin here.

Don't even like football ffs

But apart from Zola, Ravanelli, Di Canio, Carbone, Vialli there hasn't been any successful Italian forwards, right? @donny, right?
Ok a few but not many in the last 40 odd years that have been successful here.Only the Chelsea pair are really worth mentioning,Ravanelli was a mercenary who turned us down so I didn't consider him at all.Di Canio was talented but not a striker as was Zola.As I have posted hope this lads the real deal but its asking a lot in this league at 19.
