.....Nkounkou is approximately 12 months younger, cost buttons, isn’t a full international, has no first team experience abroad, has only recently arrived in this country but is taking his chance, proving effective and making a positive impression.

I agree however there are of course other factors to consider i.e. Kean May have been promised the world in terms of first choice striker whilst Nkounkou was potentially going in the development squad. You can therefore see why one maybe dismayed and the other full of beans!

I don’t understand this to be honest mate. He’s scored twice in one start and three 10 min (being generous) substitute appearances since the start of the season.

If it was Ellis Simms we would all be saying he’s making great progress this season.

A penalty and a 94th minute tap in.

I think it’s unrealistic to expect all 19/20 year olds to settle in a new country the same waY. Whose to say that Nkounkou won’t get home sick, have a dip in form, start to struggle.

I think we need to be a bit more pragmatic about these people who are effectively just children (or at least I was at that age...!)

Some people adapt to being away from friends and family better, can't really compare any two experiences as everyone will have there own little ways and things that are personal to them that determine whether they settle quickly or not. I couldn't wait to leave home at 17 but a lot of kids can't let go of mommas coattails. After a year though I'd expect improvement and Kean is showing that. Nkounkou has taken to it like a duck to water.

That’s what I want to see from strikers to be honest, same with DCL on Sat.

You get goals anyway you can.

Said a lot to me about the lad when he grabbed the ball and wouldn’t let it go for the pen against Salford, but apparently he doesn’t look motivated to be here. ;)

Yeh goals are goals but his all round play is garbage at the minute. Can’t trap a bag of cement, doesn’t really link up play, didn’t even win that penalty himself.

....I’m putting some perspective on the excuses made for Kean over the past 12 months by highlighting the immediate impression of Nkounkou.

So glad Kean is getting goals but I still want him to make more of an all-around impression. The fact he didn’t start last nights game and wasn’t even a direct replacement for DCL at half-time suggests Ancelotti is not convinced by him.

The comparison with Simms is interesting, we can only guess what his goal return would be with similar game time. A lot of watchers were very impressed with him for the U23s in midweek and it’s not beyond reason that he could be at least as effective as Kean to this point.

Regardless, let’s hope Kean turns out to be a shrewd investment.

Im just counter balancing mate, it’s how you judge impact, I mean the point being made sounds to me as, apart from scoring when given the opportunity, what else has he done.

Not sure on the Carlo presumption mate, I think he’s quite clear on how he rates Moise, in his comments.

Well I’m not so sure on that Simms comparison mate, I always found it telling Kean was never much time with the U23, despite maybe mitigation for it in coaching. I mean he’s still only 20.

Thought he was nailed on the get a start. If he cant against fleetwood then it shows again the managers lack of either faith in him or trust that he's ready.

@Neiler @Eggs

When Richarlison was 20 he joined Watford as a left winger and then a left midfielder. Likewise DCL at 20 was getting abused on this forum every game. Kean is only 20.

He has been here a year and i think alot of people expect him to be Lukaku or DCL or have fancy tricks or brazilian ball control because or his image and fee.

I dont see that at all. Ive said this before Ancelotti mentioned it about DCL, Kean to me looks like a poacher in the mould of the Inzaghi brothers. The goal he scored last night was an example of where he positions himself + if he had been given the opportunity of receiving those earlier Nkounkou crosses...or indeed having James feeding him i imagine he would have scored more goals this season.

I wonder why Ancelotti is trying him as a lone forward or on the right (where hes been good for italy u21) and not as a poacher in a partnership. The conclusion ive come to is that hes trying to mould Kean and improve his all round game. The same as DCL has become a good all rounder.

Does this take half a season with a lockdown in the middle? Could it take a very loose preseason? I dont believe it can.

My guess is that from now till January we will begin to see Kean improve. Not with 30 yarders or ball juggling but with positioning inside the box and also his hold up play.

Im excited to see him develop. If he is sold now or Jan / next summer then fair enough, clearly Ancelotti has made a decision but if he isnt then we should all be eagerly celebrating his goals rather than seeing another 72 pages of mostly negativity.

....if you invest £25m on a full Italian International it would surely be lavish if he was recruited for time with the U23s.
