Don't have time to get into it now.. but intuitively its a rubbish deal for Everton.

On the face of it this appears a panic sale based on those terms.. no bothered how the Echo have tried to spin it.
28m euro in two years, if he meets certain criteria.. If he meets those criteria what do you think he could be worth then?

Ok because I got started let me say why I thinks it rubbish:
1. The sale cannot be recorded until the terms are met. So the only income we get is the loan fee.
2. As the sale cannot be recorded we will still have to amortise the contract.
3. the loan (3m annual) is not enough to cover the amortisation - please tell me my maths is wrong?
4. so annually we still losing money until the sales is confirmed.
5. We recoup the initial downpayment in a couple season, but what if he meets these criteria what could his value be now at the age of 22 or 23 vs what he is now having played for Juve for 2 years.

I've just watched this space waiting to see how the terms actually play out before judging it. So in 2024 we hope to bank a profit as his book value will be two years lower. To book that profit now would take a club to pay the full purchase price we paid when we bought him.

Maybe there are reasons for not being able to find a willing buyer for a 20 year old who played in the CL for PSG last season and has already represented his country... but the deal sucks for us.
A case of lookin too much into something

It's actually a conditional obligation to buy.
It is being related by poster on here that the condition that makes the obligation to buy operable is that Juve are in the Champions league.
If correct that's fine but when are they to be in the CL to make the obligation operable?
I agree with Jazzy, it does appear to be a conditional obligation to buy, so only if the conditions are met is the 28 mil payment to be made. I may have mischaracterized the 7 mil fee as a loan fee, but essentially that's what it would in my view IF the conditions are not met to force the obligation (not option) to buy. I don't know what the conditions are, some are suggesting the condition is Juve making the CL, although I saw an article suggesting that it may be some minimum number of games or appearances. I have no idea, I just hope the conditions are met and the sale goes through, otherwise in a worst case scenario it seems Kean could come back to us with one year left on his deal?

Everyone is skint. It is manifesting itself at the moment with no money for transfers. Players on big contracts we all choose to sit tight because they know they won’t get offReed those terms again anywhere else. This will take a few years to run its course through European football and out the back end of it will result in lower transfer fees and lower salaries. The biggest clubs and the biggest players will probably continue to operate the way they always have, but for the majority of clubs, big changes are in the air.

Appearance based conditions would be very disconcerting as it is entirely within Juves gift as to how many games he plays and therefore very easy to defeat the condition.

Dan James after an unsuccessful spell worth more than Moise Kean... Nikola Vlasic worth more than Moise Kean after being deemed not up to given a run of games to prove himself and allowed to leave. :coffee: ..

If Kean signs permo at Juve we get way more than Dan James went for? And Vlasic too I think.

Dan James 30m Pounds straight fee. Man U bank the whole amount now.
Vlasic Euro 30m now and Euro 9m in add ons.

The first 7m for Kean doesn't even cover the amortisation (stand corrected) so cant be counted in the fee as its not a gain. For the first two years we saving his salary pretty much.
Then we get euro 28m in 2 years time.

The computer says no.

It's €35-38m + saved wages however many nonsesnse football financial terms you want to throw at it.

Seen on another site that the conditions for his permanent transfer was only if they qualify for the champions league which I fully expect them to do, hopefully that’s true.

glad he’s gone, rivaled with delph for me as the least likable players we’ve ever had. Absolutely no loss and definitely better for squad atmosphere with him being nowhere near the players.

I'm disappointed he didnt get a real run like dcl did at the start of his career but from my understanding he is a very good professional that trained well at Everton even when not picked. Defo has a sulky face when playing but so do others. Anyway he is gone. Those who wanted it need to be satisfied when rondon is warming up now.
