The tv shows were massively variable as were their other films but these two are supreme comedy in that they withstand repeated viewing and can still make you laugh.
I cant split the two films as both make me laugh, although similar to the series in sketch format I enjoyed The Meaning Of Life too.

Life of Brian, not only for the film but also for this debate:

They covered the absurdity of this a few years ago brilliantly in the TV film, "Holy Flying Circus". Gotta be Brian for me that it pissed religious nutters off everywhere and had George Harrison in the scene outside Brians window.
Go George and HandMade films... without life of Brian maybe Time bandits,, Mona Lisa, Withnail and I, the long good Friday may never had been made

As a total coherent work, Life of Brian. That said, Grail had the best small bits - the Flatulent Frenchman on the wall, the Black Knight, and this iconic image:

I've never understood why some cryarses got so upset over the Life of Brian film. It's hilarious, one of my favourite films and despite watching it as many times as I have it never once made me change my faith or stop me going to church. I just enjoy it for what it is, a very funny comedy that some melodramatic idiots took far to seriously.
