I have nearly 300 videos in my classic film collection, ranging from Raging Bull to Stand By Me. Problem is I don't really watch them anymore due to:

1. Stored away
2. Video I have isn't that great.

So I was considering downloading copies of the films, so they are in digital format. Whacking them all on an external drive, and watching them through my computer system.

Am I breaking the law? It's not like I am stealing, as I already own a copy of the film.

Are you having a laugh?

Just download them.

You own a copy of the movie you haven't broken any laws.

Besides even if you do who cares.

Your internet provider is going to take you court.

I present to the court Exhibit A: An Apple Computer seized from the defendants house"

cue G.O.D windmilling all over the show*

Then no-one will trace you.

If anyone will get punished, it'll be the torrent site.

And that happens....so rarely that I can only think of one site, thepiratebay, and they went back online straight afterwards.
