I would rather listen to the spice girls than led zepellin or pink floyd
OK, so I kind of get the Floyd thing. I would take them any day of the week and twice on Sunday against the Spice Girls, but I get the 'overrated' chants.

The thing about Zeppelin is this. They are arguably the greatest band of all time, and also the greatest waste of talent of all time. All of them are top ten all-time at what they did. By any reasonable standard, that collection of talent should have ended music, but they did not.

I mean, I should be drooling over how those four blasted Yes out of recording, but Yes is still really, really good. Ditto Genesis, The Police and everything that followed after.

I would never disagree that both bands were full of absolutely brilliant musicians, among the best there has ever been, but I just don't like the songs.

Hijacking the thread, but that word there is key.

I don't think that argument hinges on that. They are without a doubt in the GOAT frame. I think that's a matter of perspective across human endeavor, unless you stack results right up to the ceiling. Michael Phelps is the greatest swimmer. Jerry Rice is the greatest NFL player. That sort of thing.

What I'm saying is that a collection of that kind of talent should blast everyone off the face of the Earth for decades if not centuries, and yet Terry Kath destroying all the things on lead happened. It's weird, at least to me, that a band with that much ammunition did not more or less end any conversation about talent on an instrument, given media backing. The final analysis was that Chris Squire > John Paul Jones, the guitar heroes of the '80s conquered Page, your position on Plant is a matter of taste and everyone likes Bonham, but relatively few people take him #1.
