Most hated opposition player

Gerrard. The sneering arrogance and his pure hatred for Everton was something else. That generation with Carragher Fowler was absolutely obsessed with us and to this day can’t seem to let it go. One of the most overrated players in the prem. spoken about like an all time great when in reality he turned up for about 10 games a season, a few cup finals, and zero international games. Belongs at the same level as a Darren Fletcher except he actually won a few league titles. Carrick was a miles better player than he was but if you don’t play for Liverpool you don’t have the media bigging you up every second of the day.
Its a shame he turned up for most Derbys

Absolute quality player who was actually held back by LFC, even an idiot can see that.

Gerrard was an outstanding player, as painful as that is to type, he won some games on his own.

Gerrard .... hit and hope merchant, always looking for the big-I-am shot, especially for England, even if theres a sinple pass to a better placed player. His ability to stay on his feet and ride tackles evaporated the minute he got into the penalty area showing him to be a heinous cheat.

Despite all this he is ALWAYS mentioned in any prem team of a decade, normally at the expense of far better players from either Scholes, Lampard or Beckham, thanks to the rs biased media.

Yes he’s a very good player, an absolute quality player of course. But he’s considered in most pundits best PL teams of all time, in some best teams ever. Some have called him England’s greatest midfielder.

That’s what I mean by overrated. It’s not that he’s not good, or couldn’t win games by himself, he could. But no one talks about Lampard this way and he arguably was more consistent, scored more goals, turned up in big games more often, and did more at international level.

An extremely good player yes but still very overrated, same thing is happening with Van Dijk now. It’s not that he’s not good, he’s just not as era defining as the media make out

Agree. Hate the guy but he was good for them. If he'd have gone to Chelsea things would have worked out completely differently for that lot.
