He was terrible, used to watch him on Sky La Liga in late 90's and 00s and was baffled at how he cost so much, that was probably a dodgy deal with third parties that were common at the time, I bet his club got less than 50% of that World record fee.
Checked his wiki, something dodgy all right, 191 games for Sao Paulo 21 goals and that warranted a World Record fee.
