That baggies fan makes some good points, and they've def got things right at the Hawthorns. If VP is used to having a Director of football then I'm all for the Ralf/Vitor dream team.

Thanks for that post, mate. Weren't you looking at Rangnick too at one stage? Must be a blow losing Ashworth. Anyone lined up to repolace him?

We was mate. He turned us down in the end (according to reports in Germany, although we claimed we never offered it him!). We'd been in talks for quite a while.

I've posted some information on Rangnick from some Schalke and Hoffenheim fans who joined our forum when reports in Germany suggested he had accepted our offer. To sum up, he's very forward thinking, a creator of new methods and believes in attacking football with high pressurising in defence.

As for Ashworth - indeed a massive blow, his our legal secretary Richard Garlick took over the role - he worked in tandem with Ashworth. That's a key asset about DOF approach, it allows for continuity and promotion from within.

Its got all the making of a take over haha

Clever was exactly what Moyes was not. Its not clever taking a lead and then deciding to sit back and to draw or lose. We lost the FA cup final and the Semi final vs the ****e due to this. Its not clever using 10 mean to defend a corner and inviting pressure.

A clever manager knows how to handle his players even if they have ego (like Mancini, Jose)...not saying that's who we should get here but a man who can instill confidence when it matter the most and get rid of that "If we concede they we're f*cked...so defend at all cost" mentality.

It's not always as simple as a manager tells a team "now defend" or "now attack" ..... I wasn't talking about moyes particulary anyway, just managers Need to be able to play different ways!

Oh and lost the Chelsea final just because of tactics???
Yeah course, nothing to do with the fact Chelsea we a LOT better team than us!?!?!

I'm no Kenwright apologist but i must say i'm pretty impressed with the names that's been mentioned as interviewees in the last few days. Even if Martinez gets the job (in which case i'd be slightly worried but would give him my support), i'd at least know he's interviewed some impressive candidates before making his decision

Agree with this, for the first time ever Bill has actually impressed me during this process. For this reason I'm fully expecting Stubbs to be announced as our manager this afternoon.

Half the players in the prem can't speak English; Pochettino at Southampton can't speak English. It's not a major impediment, and it's not a permanent one either.

Regardless of the language barrier, Bielsa would be a better choice than Martinez, Mackay, Lennon, Poyet or Pulis.
I'm a fan of Bielsa and what he believes in and his football but the lack of English is a concern for me. Its too early to judge Pochettino at the moment.

How long would we be resound to this thinking that " they were the better team than us?"...Maybe this is the whole point. Under Moyes, we would go to away games in the top 5 and look to defend...concede and then think to attack cos hey " After all, they are the better team than us on paper".

If Chelsea were so better then how come we scored the fastest goal in the FA cup history or took the lead through Jelavic against the ****e in the semi? Okay Distin messed up but then we all saw how conveniently Moyes didn't bring anyone on and Dalglish brought on some striker, they showed intent and won, Moyes sat back..defended and lost.

Its like you knew under Moyes that when you go to Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, Red ****e away...he's already made up his mind that a "draw" would be great. This mentality has cost us games against the likes of Norwich, Fulham etc as well.
