The more I think about it the more his appointment would make sense. Steve McLaren has struggled for work recently but still has a lot to offer and they'll know each other well from their very successful time together at United. It couldn't hurt to have someone like him as Phil's assistant, if he'd be happy to be a number 2 again. He has frontline Premier League experience, took Middlesborough to a UEFA Cup final, managed England and won the first Eridivisie in Twente's history. He assisted Dave Penney at Darlington after he left the England job, so there's a good chance he might not feel too big for it.

Steve McClaren with Phil Neville as no2.

I don´t know whether to laugh or cry when I hear that.

Dave Whelan talking complete sh*te on the radio, insinuating that Everton are too small a club and not enough of a challenge for Martinez and that a top European club are more his level. Odious pr*ck

Martinez's side flirt with relegation every year and don't even play that attractive football. I don't know why he's rated so highly.

My understanding was that the wage bill released in the clubs accounts included staff and manager and indeed ground staff.

Looking at the accounts released, the 69 million figure is the total we pay in wage to everyone below the directors level and that's the figure used in articles about it. I would assume that's what FFP uses, too.

Fair enough, so all wages are accounted for in that figure. But the FFP rules seem to relate to player wages.

For example, say we decided to employ four 'marketing managers' at 5million per year, the wage bill would increase by 20 million, but I can't see that leading to a punishment through FFP?

David Whelan´s got Alzheimers mate.

Really, the search starts now?!?! Not months ago when it was obvious Moyes was leaving.... Surely a wind up..

Gonna say it again lads pellagrini would be perfect for us, would he swop Malaga for everton?

Sadly I think clubs with more money will be after him and they'll price us out of the market

Such a shame that financially all these other clubs have the jump on us because we're a really solid outfit who are capable of playing some excellent football from time to time

Money is everything and everything is money
