Reading between the lines, there is a sell on fee due to Hamburg and our offer is less upfront than some others which have been received with remaining payments over time or reliant on certain factors like appearances. I would assume that this is what is causing the hold up with Hamburg as they need to make sure they get their share even if the payment from us to Ferencvaros is staggered.

Maybe it's not a case of us not being able to pay but us having put a value on the player and deciding not to go above it. If we went toe to toe with West Ham on transfer fees over the last 5 years we'd have gone down the same road that they did.

I can understand City, Liverpool, Chelsea and United having more games as three of them were in the title race by the end of the season and the latter has the largest fanbase in the world, but Arsenal? And even more laughably, Spurs? Spurs did absolutely nothing last season.



On a Besic-related note: Gibson is rumoured to be subject to a bid from Burnley. How would everybody feel about Besic replacing him?

Spurs played in Europa a lot didn't they? I wouldn't be suprised if most of those games were because they had a Sunday fixture

Why do we never learn.

Not to mention that this lad is now suddenly ' world class ' in some peoples eyes. Why aren't the top teams in europe meeting his release clause ? Ask yourself that question before getting excited. I've not seen enough of him to really comment but i am questioning the fact that if 4m is his price, why are the better teams in football not meeting it ?

If that's the case, then our £2.5million bid looks like it has been accepted, meaning everton will then have permission to sort everything with the player. Having done that,
Everton return to Hungary to complete the formalities, but are waiting for them to conclude their part with hsv, no?

Probably because he is unproven in any other league. Like Peinaar, Cahill and Arteta were unproven in the premier league hence the price.
