Dean the best striker in British football history, Ball the best midfielder in British football history, Southall the best goalkeeper in British football history. Baines is a bit out of place. Ray Wilson or Labone would have worked but I can see what they’re trying to do with the eras.

Big Dunc maybe?

It should deffo have been Dunc over Baines if it was doing 1 player from each era. Cahill should be in over Baines as well.

What has Baines done to make him a club legend?

To be honest, I'd question why Baines has a bigger claim to be there than David Unsworth. But Ferguson 100% is more deserving.

II can imagine it in 20 years time, some little lad asking his Dad who all the players are on the painting.

"That's Dixie Dean, the very 1st number 9 in football, he's the club record goalscorer and holds the record for most goals in a season with 60. The greatest goalscorer of all time. He won the league twice and the FA Cup."

"That's Alan Ball, he won the World Cup with England in 1966, and was part of Everton's great League winning side in the 1960s, 1 of the famous Holy Trinity, and arguably the clubs greatest outfield player."

"Howard Kendall, also part of the great 60s team, and another member of the revered Holy Trinity with Ball and Colin Harvey, he then returned in the 1980s to become the clubs most successful manager, winning the league twice, the FA Cup and European Cup Winners Cup."

"Neville Southall, the greatest Goalkeeper the English game has ever seen, record appearance holder, and instrumental in the all conquering 80s team. Possibly our greatest ever player."

"And who's the last 1?"

"That's Leighton Baines. He was a good player. One time, he gave 2 Everton fans a lift to a preseason game and they filmed it on their phone. He can play guitar as well."

You make a great point.

Using that metric, it would be Tim Cahill for me.

"He was a little lad, but could leap like a salmon. He always fought for the jersey, and brought joy during what was generally a miserable time for the club"
