2024/25 Nathan Patterson

Disagree. While he clearly isn’t making it here, he is better than some of the narrative suggests.

Someone else will take him on, let him develop with mistakes in the first team and get the benefit of it, like happened with Antonee robinson etc imv

He’s not PL standard imo, and won’t attract a buyer from within the PL, but his contract situation means only PL clubs could afford to waste money on him at the moment.

I see him leaving on a free in a couple of years time. He might need a loan to a crap side playing in a league below if we wish to avoid that.

Not sure I agree. Like I say £6-8m fee and lots of reports suggest only on £28k a week which is affordable for championship, and if he is wanting to play regularly, he may take a drop etc.

People act like he is bankrupting us, despite being one of our lowest paid senior players.

Those figures are unaffordable to most Championship clubs, who have to be very careful with their money. He’d need to demonstrate the ability of a 28k a week full-back for someone to be stupid enough to risk that on him.

If he manages a loan to the Championship this summer, I doubt the Championship club will be paying all his wages, and we’d have to top them up.

It’s not going to be a substantial loss though is it, certainly not in PSR terms. If we decide to sell him, we will get 6-8m for him, which would be profit in PSR terms.
I'd be amazed if we get that sort of money for him. We took a risk with the fee we paid and backed him to bloom into something. That sort of premium won't be included anymore. He'll turn 24 early next season and has no record of performing at the top level, with a less than appealing injury record to go with it. I wouldn't expect any more than £2-3 million for him at this point.
