They've seen how much power sports have in this country after how everyone essentially mourned during COVID. They also see college football fans losing their minds over the postponements. They've seen the power they have and if this is a permanent thing, along with other sports joining in, well something has to happen it would seem.
I can see why one would think that way, but I largely don't know if that's accurate. The college football fans losing their mind, nfl fans wanting to be in the stadium, it's all an echo chamber. Of course sports seem incredibly influential when you talk to sports fans and media, because they stick together.
Once you get outside of that, you have a ton of people, who don't care at all whether they resumed play let alone boycott. And the people I know who don't care about sports, share the same sentiment that exists within the sporting world in America as to why the hell are they even playing during coviid. Given how terribly this country has handled it.
You say everyone mourned, and the first like Nascar race that came back, the Brady-Manning skins game, all drew great ratings.
But then after that you look at the NBA ratings, the 2nd biggest sport in America right now. And people aren't watching. They don't care about it in this environment.
It's a huge deal what they did because it has just never been done before, and I respect it. But far more people just won't care at all. How many people were watching those games? A few million out of hundreds of millions?
