Confirmed Signing Neal Maupay

Brighton fans take on him
- proper snide
- can’t play up top by himself
- blows hot and cold, but when he’s hot he’s unplayable
- he’s stagnated over the last couple of years
- runs his heart out, but isn’t good enough for them and where they want to go
- scores sublime technical goals, then misses sitters regularly considering the chances they create

Then, there was their take on us:
Everton - massive pressure on whatever striker they sign, to perform. Unrealistic, miserabilist fanbase. Unproven, one-dimensional manager.
Nice

Its how far we have fallen when little no mark scruffs like Brighton look down their noses at us.

Clap, Clap Bill.

Maupay and Adams have 15 goals between them last season.
Wow. Get ready for the Champions League. Two centre forwards with 15 goals between them. 16th. Maybe lower. Brighton and Southampton don't want them. Brighton. And Southampton. This is what Bill and Moshiri have done to us.

A couple of things to add, both are reasonable ages to, I think both just turned 26, so in theory some scope for modest improvement.

Also worth noting that they have scored goals in the PL. I count that as a currency higher than other leagues, partially as it's a harder league, partially as it does take time to adapt.

Both can play across the front too, so can dovetail with Dominic, but also replace him if needed.

They are a kind of low risk, very modest reward signing, that perhaps the club feels it needs to survive. Let's put it this way, if they were to come in, and get 15 goals between them, that will probably keep us up, get us to next summer where there is more FFP flexibility and allow us to be more ambitious.

The other point I'd make, is that if you had those 2 in, it may allow us to be a little more ambitious with a 3rd player, and take more risk.

I suspect it will only be one, but they are ok. I'm surprised they are both being let go, particularly Adam's at Southampton. Im not sure I'd pay 15m for either, especially with Maupay in his final year. Hes a bad finisher, but actually a very good link striker.

£15m, 20 if you believe the latest Adams rumours, for strikers that average 8 goals a season coming into a team that doesn't score goals from midfield. Oh, and who can't play up front on their own. It makes no sense at all.

I don't think we should be paying 20m for Che Adam's. I'd happily have a loan.
