Confirmed Signing Neal Maupay

Potter is not desperate to keep him, but he is happy enough for him to leave. That says a lot. Maupay is not the best option or even the only option. He's a very average, 26 year old striker. It lacks ambition for the club to sign him, but maybe it shows where we are. That 8-10 goals guaranteed is better than taking a chance.
He did want to keep him. He’s moved his attention in now because NM has decided to move away. Not sure if that will fit your argument. Also, what do you think the club ambition should be just now? I’ll give it some context by highlighting the instability over recent seasons, the near relegation season just gone, and the lack of any playing system strategy? What do you think our ambition should be?

You keep posting this but don't name our available alternative signings.
Of those who have already been signed this window for less than this possible deal. Hložek to Leverkusen for 14, Ali Cho to Sociedad for 12 maybe Luis Suárez to Marseille for 11 could all have had merit, growth for improvement and sell on potential

Of players currently available at or below this rumored Maupay deal via transfermarkt that would deserved a look.

El Bilal Touré, Reims 7.15m
Javi Puado, Espanyol, 8.80m (maybe more a winger)
Lassina Traoré, Shakthar 9.90m
Elye Wahi, Montpellier, 13.20m
Myron Boadu, Monaco 15.5m
Among others

And all guaranteed to score goals in the Prem?

He turned 26 the other week and he's been Brighton's top goalscorer the past 3 seasons. He's available, and for 'cheap' because he's free in 5 months.

Find it bonkers you rubbish 10 goals so readily. If he comes in at £15m, and scores us 10 league goals - he'd be a tremendous signing. That's what Richarlison got last season, the closest to him was Gray and Calvert-Lewin with 5. His goals had a massive difference on Brighton's league position.

As I keep saying, it's easy to sneer. If you can give alternatives then that would strengthen your argument.

Dennis, Cornet and Pukki outscored Maupay last season and all were relegated. Wood and Benteke outscored him the season before that.

10 goals (assuming he gets 10 as he hasn't done that in the last 2 seasons) is not going to be enough for a leading CF. This is the calibre of striker we want?

Kalajdzic, Burkardt, Zirkzee, Gouiri, Ramos and several others represent greater risk, at a similar price, but potentially far greater reward.

And all guaranteed to score goals in the Prem?

Why does that matter?

No risk, no reward. Maupay guarantees 8-10 goals a season but so what? McGoldrick at Sheffield United scored as many Premier League goals as Maupay did last season. It is not a number to aspire to, for me.

Those players didn't win anything and now even worse ones are coming. If Everton keep buying players like this then you will die before you see a trophy
Seen all the trophies thanks, but my answer was to a different question that didn't mention silverware. Did you join the forum just to slag Everton FC in every one of your posts?

Club can't win either way.

We sign players from teams below us and people complain.
We sign players from teams above us and people complain.
We sign players from abroad and people complain.

What do people actually want apart from having a moan.

Yep, add cost too much and we are now stuck with them OR cost too little and the club showing no ambition also.

You've listed a load of players Newcastle and West Ham have been linked with there.

Players need to want to come as well - I know Zirkzee has jibbed us twice before, a few others I've not heard of and had to Google and personally I'm not in favour of us spending any money we might have on strikers from the Bundesliga/Ligue 1. That Burkardt has apparently scored 12 in 67 over there.

We can take Moise Kean type risks when we're more secure - now it's about a baseline to try and stay competitive enough to stay in the league.
