Need a new striker?

Meh, we have Beckford, Saha, Yakubu, Vaughan, Anichebe, Cahill and Fellaini who can all do their job in that position.

And i think each one can do their job - well - other than Saha...

...Yes we need a new striker, a big name striker, but lets get the right wing sorted first imo
 
I can't see Saha getting back to his best.

Beckford is a punt.

The Yak is AWOL.

We might not need one, but I want one. But we have no money.

You don't always get what you want, eh?
 
Id rather give beckford a chance before we write him off. Saha is class as we know, just because he has not scored for a while does not mean he wont again. All strikers go through a barren patch.

A barren 6 months? Closer to Jason Scotland territory than a "barren patch".

Beckford... he needs to settle before we can really say.

Saha and beckford couldnt hit a cows arse with a bazooka. Saha hasnt scored in 15 games

Anichebe isnt a striker. Yaks off.

Cahill isnt a striker.

We are so toothless is unbelievable. All that possession, no killer ball, no one on the end of them, no magic out of nothing.
 
More of a winger? Hopefully get his chance against Huddersfield, he played well in preseason and helped us win along with Coleman and Rodwell. It makes no sense that Moyes hasn't been playing them..
 

Beckford is too quick to play how he did today. He needs to be making runs, not posting up like a basketball player. I still think he could be successful if Everton can adjust their tactics.

And I'm a fan of pairing strikers. I love Cahill, but it just didn't work today

I actually disagre, anichebe is an awesome finisher. Sometimes Moyes is too hung up on making everyone the perfect player, just because Vic's a big lad why can't he just play the role of running off the shoulder of defenders? he'd scare the life out of people, but because he's a "big un" he's never been considered for this role.
 
i think saha and beckford would make a good strike partnership but arent strong enough to be lone strikers.
the trouble with playing them as a partnership is cahill would have to dropped or played in the middle of a 442.(even then id rather play fellaini arteta rodwell or heitinga in the center of a 442)

the only striker who has enough strength to play the lone striker is the yak.

as for anichebe vaughan magueye and silva being a solution ...not a chance. i only see 8-10 goals for all of them combined.

i would like to see a bit more muscle in our strikers. a gudjohnson , shearer or ashton type of player.
trouble is i cant think of any strikers that fit the mould.

i have wondered if newcastles andy carroll might be worth a punt on ?
i can see him being a good option for the lone striker role , could be a right handful with cahill playing off him , and would give us a little extra height to aim for.
