Never been happier to see Rooney score....

I can see him coming back home one day.

Hey don't shoot.:P

I can see him coming back, but I hope that by then, we'd have moved light years ahead of him and we won't need him. If we do, he'll either be world, world class, joining our world class team, or he's come back to help us out if we get relegated.

I was in the bath last night and had the radio on and was thinking of extra time when lo and behold, he scores right at the end, and I said something that I will not repeat on here.

Evertonian or not, there's something unsavory about seeing the rotund one heaving around the Old Trafford field of play with his diminishing hair and chubby frame, there's a part of me that can't stand this player now, and it will get worse during the World Cup, i'll be hoping that he fails and falls flat on his chubby face in South Africa, and we can move on to pre-season and domestic issues.

I really did want the blue half of Manchester to prevail last night, that was just nasty the way what happened to them last night, they haven't had to see any player lift any significant silverware since 1970, and it's even been nearly 34 years since the last acutal trophy.

United on the other hand, winning pots every season nearly, look at the list of honors since the last City win, I can't begrudge the latter a chance of glory, and good luck to them, I hope they do well in future seasons.

They will have bigger fish to fry than the League Cup, a tournament that I won't say is borderline Mickey Mouse, but one some people fail to recognize.

Agreed. While I dislike City, and I wasn't arsed with them losing, I definitely wanted them to win more than United.

Failing to see the logic of wanting them bad belters* to win anything.

* City

I don't want them to win anything, but I'd prefer them to win something over United. I can sympathise with the proper City fans, as someone who during his life has been fan of a side whose city neighbours have won almost everything under the sun. Every fan deserves their day, United have won enough....

As huge belters as some of the City fans are, there will also be the ones who bought season tickets even when they were down in Division 2 playing against Stockport and the like. They've paid their dues and they deserve something to shout about.

OK, said it. Won't happen again. Nice to see the corporate business masquerading as a football club killed off for now. Unfortunately, money will out, and they will win something soon.

I couldn't agree less. I am sick of hearing about how United are such purists and City corporate spoilers of the game, as if United's way is so much more honourable than City's.

1. United didn't get all their players for free. That's right, they had to find MONEY to build their team too.

2. But, you say, United derived theirs from marketing to their huge fanbase. Okay, following that logic, you're saying the clubs with the largest fanbases should be allowed to spend all they like, but the others aren't allowed any means of bridging the gap. Which means United will FOREVER be light years ahead of City.... and us.

3. On the matter of fanbase, why do United have such a huge one? Because they were the first English side to win the EC. Even after Liverpool won four (I'm talking pre Istanbul here), and thereby drew in a huge number of fans around the world, United still had the larger fanbase. I always refer to this as the Coca Cola - Pepsi pattern, i.e., the lion's share of the niche market gets devoured by the party who gets in first. With that in mind then, how on earth can anyone - City, Everton, Villa, whoever - hope to catch up without some form of radical funding to match the revenues derived from the huge fanbases?

People need to view this matter critically and stop listening to propaganda from the corporate media with vested interest in maintaining the status quo of Man Utd & Liverpool as the "greatest English clubs".

Not guilty, I've not taken any time to praise Utd. I just expressed my delight to see Rooney score a goal in a Utd shirt, which is unsusual for an Everton fan to do. Unless he sinks city again, Its likely to be the last time I give him any praise.

I'm not going to waste anyone's time comparing the fortunes of Utd and City, really can't be arsed that much. I will say that when you conduct yourself like "Loads a money", and park your tank on our lawn spewing money at us, your not going to win many fans as a second team.
