For me Harry Catterick was boss but he did have plenty of money. Built 2 great championship winning teams with the money he had.
Billy Bingham even though he should have won the league for us was in a similar mould to Allardyce zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Gordon Lee had a good spell with exciting football then similar to now had the plug pulled on spending and went down hill but I liked him.
Kendall had a slow start then the rest is history............best manager we ever had.
Colin Harvey did a decent job by todays standards but was on a loser after Kendall.
Howard mk II had the battle he lost with the board over signings so quit.
Mike Walker was a total distaster.
Joe Royle was very good but the board once again could not back him so he quit.
Howard MK III not a chance in hell with what he had to spend....board let him down
Walter Smith bought in some good players that the board couldn't afford so having to resell them and be on a nothing budget didn't help him regardless of him being a dour manager.
Moyes stabilised the club but patted himself on the back and claimed success. Not willing to push on and quite happy with his 'success' not realising he belittled the club with knife to gunfight type of comments.
Martinez great 1st season but too stubborn in his methods when it was obvious to all but himself that the style/defence became inaffective but unwilling to do anything about it.
Koeman decent 1st season but once he had a bit of money he didn't know how to use it...........set the club back.
Allardyce zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz anti Football
Silva was a job too big for him.
Ancelloti gave us hope but think he is only suitable after all his years to take on teams that have quality already and just tweak slightly. Wasn't up for a build
Benitez .......wait and see

Disclaimer..........only my opinions and I know many will differ
Gordon Lee was dour as a person , but put out a great side.
The board backed him (if I remember correctly) , but patience had run out when he wanted to bring in 2 foreigners. That was a strange thing to do at the time. They were supposedly Michel Platini and Dominique Rochetau. Just imagine !

Was about for Howards first spell so got to see us do it all, sorry for those younger than me.

Colin was good but a step down from Howard. I could never understand his buys, McDonald and Nevin were lightweight...Cottee and McCall were decent though.

Mike Walker was an appointment that always makes me wonder wtf, he was superb for Norwich who had just beat Bayern Munich, they played footy, scored goals, like an earlier Howard side. Came to us and dunno…he must have been off his barnet on space cakes.

Walter was decent at first, but I think he gets a rough ride, mainly because the Chairman said join us we have money, gave Walter dough, then pulled the rug and left him with peanuts.

Moyes I remember from his PNE days, played Everton and Arsenal and impressed with his team. Good manager, but not given the funds under our big blue bill.

Martinez a two game wonder. Beat us getting to Wembley, then won v City. Bill thought he was the best, even though Wigan were relegated....Mr brown shoes showed his class eventually, we forgot to defend and were regularly beaten.

Koeman I thought was decent as he had proven pedigree with Benfica and Southampton. To this day I am not sure if our problems were him, the DOF or the Chairman....the system didn't work.

Chiippy - no comment

Silva - just another poor Moshiri appointment, another bobby brown shoes, but not as good on the dancefloor.

Carlo - was one I was probably given a ball tickler, how we got him in out honey trap? Loved us and then like a whore flung us to one side for the next money drop.

Rafael - some on here will know I have pinpointed him a few times for our manager.....much to girly insults and rotten cabbage thrown at me in the street.
But do you know what? give him a chance. Yes we will get turned over, have you seen our team? But he will get us to be a team on the pitch, he knows how to win, he's a proven winner. He needs our support as do the Board. The board need to give him money to get us better players....it is now up to Mosh to deliver.....Rafael can only work with the players he has.

The yes cause no other choice sicken me. Atleast the No's have conviction and fight for what they believe in. That last option is beta male shrug of shoulders material. Unfriend me if one of them.

I think we need to do a recount of the yes vote, with all the votes from the suspected kopite posters disregarded. I just want to make sure that everything is above board.

I support Everton, not the manager. Personally can't wait till the day arrives that he's out the door, but will never hope Everton lose matches, to speed up that proces.

Hope his spell here is very succesful, but at the same time I'll never warm to him, no matter what happens. For me he's a mercenary, that's getting paid to do a job. Not an appointment I'll ever get fully behind.

Hope he does that job very well for the clubs sake. Don't expect gratitude, at the very best maybe a bit of acceptance.

Yet another thread on RB ? we have not kicked off in the Prem as yet my worry is the lack of transfer activity either way.......in & out ......
Not surprising, the previous manager cited lack of ambitions from some in Everton, caused in part him leaving.
Our board cited the current manager time at Newcastle as evidence he was good fit at Everton.(!???????????) the cat did this bit and even he gets it.

This post mirrors my feelings, I'd choose the word 'tollerance' over acceptance. I'm more concerned about Everton doing well over stressing out about Benitez. Above all, the fans deserve a glimmer of hope on the pitch after several years of utter dross, this needs to be the focus.

We need a settled period at this club, too many managers in too short a time. No wonder we are all over the place.
I am not thrilled to have him here but if he is still here in 5 years time then I assume the club would have a level of stability and hopefully success.
Ask yourselves, if you know now what Carlos was like , what he thought of us, and how he would disrespect each and every one of us,would you still prefer him over Benitez ?.

As I see it, he's here, the previous managers have been a let down, the options were very limited. Many years shouting for the blues, not giving up that over one appointment.

Mate, every manager we have ever had is getting paid to do a job. The mercenary part I agree with.. but again it's not like it's the first time a manager has come for the money. The big difference here is that Benitez seems to still have fire in his belly, Unlike Koeman and Ancelotti.
Back him in the short term, If the team see the crowd getting on his back from the off, Guaranteed they won't want to learn from him and we will end up with Eddie Howe. I frankly prefer Benitez to Howe. Benitez has at least won trophies.

You can stick your Russian Rat Multi-bots.
The Fat Benny Kopite Kool Aid Kult lost fair and square,
A full audit of the votes will prove that.

Of course you're right on that part. Maybe I've worded it wrong. All I'm trying to say is that I don't like Benitez and will never warm to him, no matter what. Most managers I'm at least neutral towards. Don't want Everton to lose because of a manager I don't like though.
