I wanna say for the record that I'm all for appointing Benitez if he'd be in for the long-haul and up for a project that will involve having a top-down way of playing throughout the football club, will present a pathway for young players if they're good enough, will work with the DoF and help us move away from playing crap footy.

But let's be honest, at worst, Benitez will come here thinking he just has to have us around 7th and maybe win the odd derby and that will be sound. His time at Newcastle shown that he's too comfortable accepting a gig with low-expectations and hiding behind easy excuses when progress isn't made. At best, I think we'll just be getting a much lessened version of what Carlo was giving us, we made a lot of exceptions for Carlo because of his pedigree, I truly don't think we can make the same degree for Benitez, though very accomplished.

In terms of what this means for how our club is run, his appointment at worst shows Moshiri really does just goe for the name rather than the consideration of if they're a good fit, and at best it smacks of sentimentality for a good local figure.

He loves the city, I'm sure he'd love to manage us, I reckon he would probably get Evertonians more than most. Even on a personal level - a charity night was organised in my late Mum's name a few years back and a friend of me Dad's asked would he be happy to take some photos for it and promote it and he did. So I wanna make it clear, I really like the guy as a man, ex-Liverpool manager or not. But just don't think this would be a good appointment, sadly.

Just imagine us singing your just a fsw at the pit after we win, that would be pure gold. God it’s hard being a blue haha

Heard Rafael is preparing for his stint as manager not by going over tactics or formations but just listening to a mix tape of booing.
