I’m glad in those days we didn’t have the internet so I only got our results from ceefax and reading match reports. I’d have been a fume machine on social media if it had existed! lol
Our dark days in the 90's scrapin a few "escapes" were dark times apart from meeting my missus..................

hang on a minute....

shes been there for every escape........

I know what it is lads, the link to it all is right in front of my eyes all this time!!

*asks missus for a divorce, based on her jinxing the Toffees since day one, its the only logical reason

that's it she's done!

Get anyone in. Make sure they punt Keane Coleman Davies Siggurdson Gomes into oblivion. Pick a decent manager.

Honestly I don’t even want a decent manager to be ruined by that lot again. Let Benitez be the one who has to deal with their pathetic crap in the short term. The pathetic passing, the falling over for no reason, the crippling indecision, the complete lack of effort, the slowest ‘running’ I have ever seen from any type of athlete. Quite happy for Benitez to take the horrible transition with this lot and either ship them out under his watch or he plays them all and they’re a few seasons closer to retirement by the time a new manager comes in.

Those players have to leave the club if we want to ever be successful again. Whilst they are playing regularly for us we will continue to be an utter joke. Respect to Coleman for the player he was up to 2014, but he’s not good enough now and the rest have never been good enough. Get them out.
The problem with that is that these players will seize on Benitez's unpopularity, hide behind it and see Benitez out of a job while preserving their own position here.

For me - beyond all the sturm und drang of the symbolic significance of the appointment - it's that knowledge that the wasters will survive for years more after a quick Benitez regime...and by wasters I extend that to the coaching staff too as well as the players.

My fiancee made a comment when we were playing Brighton a few years ago. 79 mins gone and 2:1 up. She said, "oh, looks like they are going to win then". Brighton score 80th min.

Then at 90, she goes, "at least its a draw". Digne own goal in stoppage time.

I could have called the wedding off then and there.

Yeah, I'm sure him going to China had absolutely nothing to do with being one of the highest paid coaches in world football.

That's pretty much my point. That's something someone at the end of their career does when money has overtaken success in their priority list.

I don't care how much money you can earn there. Going to manage or play in China shows a player or manager no longer feels they can compete at a high level and/or their competitive hunger has gone. The money issue is an irrelevance to me. You can play or manage in England and still be wealthier than any of us can even imagine. So why go somewhere that is so far off the top of the game unless you feel you can't compete anymore?

Dyche is a decent manager mate - the problem is he is ginger and english with a gruff name therefore he's a dinosaur.

He has kept a league one sized club in Burnley in the Premier League with the 18th lowest net spend and the 16th lowest wage bill and has had them finish 7th & 10th in 5 seasons.

Meanwhile Potter has spent more to finish something like 15th & 16th in two consecutive seasons yet "lets give em a go lads" because his football is fancy.
You obviously don't watch his football. It's horrendous. If the aim is low block and play it long, that makes you a dinosaur.

It requires little thought process and cannot carry you to the top. If you appoint a manager who plays a more progressive style, it takes longer to implement. You may struggle, but it may get you to the top as it can provide incremental gains. Dyche-ball comes with its own glass-ceiling in built. What's the point?

I think our fans are scared of a manager who wants to play football because of Martinez. Martinez is unusual in that he was a fantasist who didn't believe defending or set-pieces were an important part of the game, whilst missing the most important part of the Guardiola philosophy- the press.

The argument that Dyche is not fancied because he is a ginger Englishman is nonsense. Wouldn't be my choice, but I wouldn't mind Potter and he's hardly an extrovert- and he's English. I've also gone into endless detail on here about why I don't want Benitez, and is nothing to do with his RS connections and everything to do with his desire to play Spanish Dyche-ball.

The board appointing Rafael would be the equivalent of taking a 100 to 1 gamble at the bookies...very unlikely that you'll have success, extremely high risk but yet a tiny possibility that there could be big rewards. So as many said if they are not backing him with significant funds, we'll be looking for a new manager before Christmas 2021...
