i’m not saying I agree or even condone it but I certainly understand it . If it comes to pass This might not prove to be the worst decision in the club’s history but it’s certainly the most divisive and this is why I said the other day that it’ll almost certainly end up being toxic with violence in the stands .

Your response is perfectly natural but someone who goes the game responding in a similar manner to someone kicking off in some huge anti-Benitez rant is going to end up in a kick off especially once you factor in the match day beers . It’s certainly happened before and other than a fantastic start and run I can’t any other way it doesn’t happen again .
I've said the same myself regarding the likelihood of the club rupturing. It's an appalling choice of manager by clueless people.

But defacing the club stadium is wrong. And it's more likely to both harden the reaction of the owners who are determined to bring Benitez here AND sway wavering fans toward handing grudging support to the appointment.

We've tried being hard to beat, it hasn't worked. Where we agree is that we have a mess of a squad but that is because we have a DoF who doesn't actually do the job of a DoF and recruit a manager that suits our identity (he hasn't even established what our identity should be) and recruit players who fit that identity rather than whoever the revolving door of new managers feel like buying. He should tell them no, that's his job. Whether that is because Brands is bad at his job, a weak personality who is pushed around by successive managers or is frequently undermined by Moshiri, I don't know, it's probably a bit of all three. Either way nobody of sane mind can look at Benitez and think "there is a guy that will be here for years". Evertonians will rightly hound him out the minute results go bad, probably before. I would love us to take a long-term view and ignore fan pressure to give a young, progressive, ambitious manager a chance to develop a culture at the club, that, after all, is what Brands said he wanted. 62 year old has been Rafael Benitez, who is roundly loathed by the fan base and has fallen out with every owner/DoF/CEO he has ever worked with, is not the guy to do that with. It's a stupid appointment.

When? Under Moyes? He didn't have any spending power.

Anyone know easiest way to get spray paint off of your face? Had an accident whilst using it earlier and it’s not coming off

Has anyone from the club claimed benitez is in the frame? I don’t believe they have.

So they let the media run with it while they wait for their man (who’s probably under contract & involved in the euros) to become available.

Cost to remove a bedsheet & graffiti = pennies.
Carry on speaking sense like that matey and you will be asked to self isolate!

Very few of the big clubs would want Carlo. That is why he ended up at Napoli and then Everton. I agree completely about the short-termism, but personally I think that is down to Moshiri wanting big names.

We have gone for a DoF but then allowed successive managers to recruit their own players. That is what has caused the squad damage.

You really are the gift that keeps on giving.

Very few clubs would want Carlo..........oh except for that multi European Cup winning Madrid side but they don't count"

Don't disagree with the point being made at all, and yes, I've pumped thousands upon thousands into Everton over my life but the idea of scrawling over Goodison's walls just doesn't sit right with me, like, at all.

If lads want to scrawl "Fu** Rafael" all over their Ma's bloomers and hang them on the Park End fence then fine, whatever. Spraying the walls just doesn't sit right though for me and many others.

It's done now, I'll just get back to tutting loudly at my laptop.

We have probably got tons of tins of blue paint knocking around and it gives someone a job during tough times.

It's a slight annoyance. Doesn't have to be any more than that.

Obviously the best course of action would be to not put the club in this position in the first place.

He's at one of the biggest clubs in world football for a 2nd time. Napoli and us got him cos it was an opportune time and he was sacked at one, poached at the other.

Nah not having it, Carlo was here for the 11 million. Let's be honest here, who would turn down a job that has caveats to leave, Could bring in your soccer mates James and Allen and bring your son too... No strings, No accountability for home results (pandemic was in them talks)
Easiest money Carlo has ever taken.

Each to his own.

Completely wrong like but it's over now isn't it.
